Russian heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin (31-1, 23 KOs) will fight on July 1 at the Russia Concert Hall in Moscow. His opponent will be named later.

According to his promoter, World of Boxing, the 37-year-old Povetkin will be free and clear to fight by that date with no restrictions after some complications with doping tests in 2016.

The card also features the comeback of former IBF super lightweight champion Eduard Troyanovski (25-1, 22 KOs), and heavyweight prospect Alexey Papin (6-0, 5 KOs).

Povetkin hasn't been banned by the Russian Boxing Federation, has he? He’s still ranked by the IBO.

He’s only excluded from the rankings of the main four boxing organisations. I don’t think they can stop him competing in his homeland, can they?

That being said, it's interesting to read Andrey Ryabinsky's comments about Povetkin being "free and clear to fight by that date with no restrictions after some complications with doping tests in 2016."

I wonder what he means by this? Is he expecting the judge (on the 21st April) to either order a new trial or overrule the jury’s decision for the Wilder lawsuit?

I’ve recently read unsubstantiated rumours about the Povetkin’s sample that contained the trace of Ostarine being allegedly tampered with, so I wonder if this is what he’s referring to also?

The WBC claimed that there was insufficient evidence to make a definite finding about whether Povetkin actually ingested Meldonium from his "failed" WADA test, which he was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing by WADA, but they did say that...

...if there was an adverse finding concerning any of Povetkin’s samples during a one year period after the ruling, they would suspend him indefinitely.

The WBC also warned Ryabinsky that if the result of the Wilder trial found that Povetkin ingested Meldonium, something that they themselves admitted they couldn't prove, then they would not only withdraw his mandatory challenger status, but also impose any penalties upon him, such as a ban.

So my statement or question about Ostarine was relevant.

I think that Povetkin has a decent chance v PEDvetkin.

I wish this forum had a mute option like Twitter does. I'd love to never have to see these Povetkin threads again. Honestly don't know why so many people care about him.

With him being banned from fighting basically everywhere but Russia I wouldn't think too many people would have much to gain by fighting him. A guy that's not in the loop for a big opportunity that wants some money might take the chance though.

..I was wondering if this coming court ruling on meldonium will be binding for ALL parties concerned including the alphabets and national federations, while Ostarine issue at this point seems to be the matter between Povetkin and WBC..

He's one of the best and most proven in the division, and he's still fighting.

He's still one of the best and most proven in the division, and he's still fighting.

Besides, Povetkin was a mandatory, so the only ways to avoid him was to drop the belt or to get him banned. Wilder has been successfully avoiding any significant challenges aiming to cash out against Joshua or Klitchko.

If Povetkin can get by PEDvetkin, he may get a shot at Wilder.

Whether he should or shouldn't be banished for life is irrelevant since he's not banished for life. You can't plug your ears and sing La La La in the real world. Do you really believe Trevor Bryan is the 8th best Heavyweight in the world or at what point do rankings stop being important?

Who is not juicing? I don't know if he was careless or was framed, but that is the only thing which differs him from others.

I bet Dimitrenko would be up for it.
