Danny Garcia: I Won; Want Immediate Rematch With Thurman!

by Ruthless-RKO
“I want the rematch,” Garcia told FS1 blow-by-blow announcer Brian Custer during a break at ringside. “I wanna get my title back. I wanna be back where I belong, you know, on top of the game because, you know, I’m a superstar fighter, I’m a world champion. I’ve been a champion for five, six years in a row in the sport of boxing. And I want the rematch. But if not, whoever. Anyone in the welterweight division. Big fights."

“I felt like I did enough to win the fight because the official scorecards were even going into the 11th and 12th rounds,” Garcia said. “And I though all he did was move the last two rounds. He didn’t throw no punches. I thought I did enough to close the show in the last two rounds. And the two judges didn’t give me those last two rounds, and that’s how the fight went his way.” Garcia actually was already down through 10 rounds on the two cards on which he ultimately lost.

Pasquale had Thurman ahead 97-93 through 10 rounds, but gave the 11th and 12th rounds to Garcia to finish with a 115-113 score for Thurman. McKaie also had Thurman in front through 10 rounds (96-94), yet he gave the 11th and 12th rounds to Thurman, who won 116-112 on his scorecard.

Garcia was ahead 96-94 after 10 rounds on Morgan’s scorecard. Morgan scored the 11th round for Thurman and the 12th round for Garcia, who won 115-113 on Morgan’s card.

In hindsight, Garcia wishes he had done more early in the fight, so that he didn’t need to come from behind on the scorecards.

“I knew he was gonna try to box and move,” Garcia said. “I would’ve tried to probably start off faster, start off more aggressive. But I felt like I fought a smart fight. I felt like I closed the show like a true champion. And basically the fight went how it went.”

That "1" in the losing column looks so good on Danny's record, but a "2" would look even better!

Speaking of the FS1 card, two DREADFUL decisions on that card. Terrible terrible abysmal scoring.

Danny is so used to getting gifts. Should have been 3rd or 4th defeat. 2nd at least.

Thurman ran like a bitch at the end of their fight.

Garcia deserves a rematch.

It's called boxing. Thurman won fair and square. I wouldn't mind seeing it again though.

I'd be fine with seeing Thurman beat Danny again. Hope Thurman doesn't pull a De La Hoya in the last 3 rounds next time. He made it a little too close for comfort.

Exactly. You don't hear his brain dead retard dad shouting the odds when he's gotten away with one. He lost fair and square.

I really can't go his lairy fukk wit of a father! It puts me off Danny.

Yes, Thurman won according to most.

I'd have been quite happy to see him lose a close decision after all of his running at the end though.

I hope they throw a few fights in between. The fight wasn't particularly close, definitely not close enough to warrant an immediate rematch. Let it sit for a little and take on some other challenges. Immediate rematches are rarely needed.

He had built up a comfortable lead and there was no need to get involved. Garcia can punch. I think it will happen again and I think Thurman wins again.

Thurman vs the Brook Spence winner has to happen at the end of the year :TU:

No he doesn't. He was beaten cleanly. Let them both fight others and get back to this business at a later date.

If Thurman fights someone as good or better next then fine.

Thurman's been on a good recently, so maybe he will fight someone better.

Other than the Spence/Brook winner nothing really would be bigger than a rematch with Garcia, and since he'll be waiting a while for Spence and Brook to handle their business and negotiate their next fight in all that I see no reason why he and Garcia couldn't agree to a fight and have a rematch around late June or July or whatever setting us up for a big Unification fight in the Fall.

Of course this is Boxing so that big unification fight in the Fall wouldn't take place until Fall 2020 so....

I didn't think that his lead was all that comfortable.

He'd done nothing impressive enough in the fight, for him to believe that he could clearly give away so many late rounds.

He was far too arrogant.

Pacquiao, Mayweather, Bradley & Crawford would all be better opponents than a Garcia rematch.

Well at the end going by the cards it ended up too close for comfort. I had Thurman winning comfortably though. If there's nothing else on the table for them right away they might as well go again.

I'd enjoy seeing Danny stay busy and take on the winner of Thurman vs Brook/Spence next summer!

It surely won't happen if Brook wins.

I'd say it doesn't need a rematch. Was an ok fight but not a classic by a long shot. And the result was not in doubt. Clear win for Thurman

Porter deserves a second shot more

I would rather see Porter v Danny.

That's a good call. Hopefully porter would wreck him
