"Heavyweight Dillian Whyte keen to make an example of next opponent"

Whyte is looking to stake his claim to a world title shot by destroying a former challenger this summer.

The 28-year-old from Brixton (20-1-KO15) maintains a rematch with Dereck Chisora this year is a distinct possibility -- but first intends to face one of Bryant Jennings, Mariusz Wach, Artur Szpilka or Gerald Washington.

Whyte told ESPN: "I'm the main event in June but I don't know the opponent yet. We are trying to get some kind of eliminator and are waiting to see the best route to go. There's the likes of Wach and Jennings, who both lost to Wladimir Klitschko and Szpilka and Washington, who both lost to Deontay Wilder.

"If I can get in there and do a better job than those champions did then it secures my place as a world title challenger. Jennings interests me because he talked some rubbish. I confronted him when I saw him and he didn't want to know.

"It was typical coward's behaviour. Jennings is a good fighter and he's in great shape but I don't think he's got the biggest heart in the heavyweight division.

"As for Chisora, that fight will always be there but he's got to fight Robert Helenius [on May 27] first. It could happen around December time if he keeps winning. If the money is right, we'll see what happens and it could be a final eliminator for the WBC."

Whytes a punk. Always making threats outside the ring. Typical bully boy. Loved Del Boy throwing the table at him!

He could have made an example vs Dave Allen but that was a 12 round snore fest. He could have made an example vs Del Boy, whose at the end of his career, but didn't he edged out a disputed SD.

Saying that the names he lists are a decent next opponent

If he wants to set an example then fight Ortiz

That's a pretty decent list of names to be honest.

Decent names but can't see it selling out in 90 seconds.

If Whyte's looking to impress and stop a fighter early then Wach is probably the worst opponent Eddie could choose. Wach has a granite chin and wasn't really hurt by either Wlad or Povetkin over almost 24 rounds. Can't see Whyte stopping Wach but would make a huge statement if he did.

I'd agree re whytes power. Was built up to be an explosive puncher but it's quite far from AJ or Haye type power. He's a big guy so if he catches you it's gonna be heavy still, but I'd imagine his ko % will continue to reduce as he climbs the rankings

I don't think he'd be able to make much of a statement against a lot of those guys, but he'd probably beat Wach clear.

All the other opponents he listed would make for interesting toss up fights in my opinion so he really would make a statement by beating any of those guys.

It's good that he'd considering decent named contenders in the division. Who have been in the ring against world champions..

Those are decent names to be fair, although Gerald Washington is clearly the weakest. I give them all a chance to beat Whyte, especially Jennings. For that reason, i can't see it being him.

Also, Hearn could sell snow to the eskimos, sand to the arabs etc. I expect there'll be decent co-main event to sell it, the usual load of shite on the undercard (smith brothers etc). There's no way it will tank. It'll probably be fornicating PPV too.

What I think is a big name is different to what Hearn etc think is a big name. Brook Spence is the week before so it won't be PPV. Not even sky will do that.

Id pick Jennings to beat Whyte. Not sure where he gets the lack of heart thing from either.
