Hello all,

My brother and I have linked up once again.. we plan on giving this year a solid go and evaluating our performances in national tournaments this year and then go pro next year.

He has been boxing on and off for almost a decade. At the age of 20 its now or never.

Not too many boxing minds in Oklahoma to share ideas with so Ive come here. Both guys are open, my brother is the shorter one in the blue corner.

Id love your opinions on whats going right and whats going wrong especially.

I appreciate it!

honestly, not a bad fight to watch and a good win for your brother so congratulations on that one.
things that were good:
* the right hand good point scorer for him, connected well when it was thrown and a good point scoring punch
* when the fight got close he controlled the pace, scored well especially when he wasn't the taller man
* 3rd round was when he really won it for me, the confidence was there and he'd really found his pace in the fight.

The bad points:
* That right hand came in one single punch each time early in the fight, and it had quite a big movement to it, if the other guy had gotten the timing down he could block and leave your brother open for a punch of his own. And if you worked on the power in the punch and how it lands cleanly then you could have a knockout punch to add to your arsenal
* Didn't use the jab a lot early on and I admit using it against a guy with a reach advantage isn't the best strategy but use it to gauge the distance or use feints to help you throw off the oppositions timing and make them second guess themselves.
* Guard, it seemed to drop during the first round, might just have been initial nerves but it did drop from chin height to chest height over the course of the first round and almost looked like more of a countering styled guard in the second round. Good to use but could leave your brother open for a big punch to connect.
* Footwork seemed a little slow and plodding at first, I'd recommend working on your footwork drills a little more too. being able to move in and out of the other boxer's range and really frustrate them with fighting on the inside while they can't land hits would be a big benefit for you in the future
