1:33 * Ouch, that's a cut! 6:6
1:33 No wonder he's pawing at his eye. Blood has to be flowing into it from the cut that is now clearly seen above his right eye. 6:6
1:33 Bad news for Griffith getting cut so early in the fight, this could cause him a lot of trouble later. 6:6

2:28 * Blood is trickling from the cut over Griffith's eye; it has to be impairing his vision somewhat and it's definitely bothering him if the amount of blinking he's doing is any indication. And it looks like . . . yes . . . Referee Bulner is notifying the timekeeper to stop the clock. He wants the doctor at ringside to take a look at Griffith's facial wound. 4:6

1:19 Greb moves in at an angle, trying to cut off the ring on Griffith. 3:6
1:24 * Greb is told to quit head butting by Bulner. 5:6
1:33 * Bulner has just indicated that Greb is guilty of using his head and committing a foul. So Griffith's cut is the result of an intentional butt, not a punch. 6:6

2:28 It looks like Greb has reopened Griffith's previous wound because Griffith is now bleeding once again. 4:6
2:28 Griffith has once again become bloodied, as the gash above his right eyebrow has, apparently, reopened. 4:6
2:28 * The doctor is peering at the wound and he's shrugged his shoulders and he's shaking his head - is that a good thing or bad? Well, it's good from Emile Griffith's perspective and the cheer that arises from the crowd tells us all we need to know: there's going to be more fisticuffs in just a moment. Obviously, the damage isn't that bad and Griffith and Greb await the signal from the referee to commence firing. The fight resumes here in Round 4. 4:6
2:37 Griffith is pinned in his own corner... 4:6
2:41 Greb forces his way inside. 4:6
2:49 Griffith buries a hook followed by an uppercut to the midsection of Greb 4:9
3:00 The bell stops the action as Greb and Griffith go back to their corners. 6:9

2:27 Greb last connect snapped back the head of Griffith. And it looks like it has reopened Griffith's cut. 13:2

Not to quibble, but shouldn't this be a Technical Draw? The only cut was from a stated headbutt in round two - later re-opened by punches but created by a foul. And if it had to be stopped in the 5th, the scorecards are all even (right or wrong).

Or did the punches "re-open" some injury sustained in a previous fight? A shame as Griffith was well in the fight at least.

I had the same thing happen to me in a fight earlier this season. Tommy Ryan had a cut opened by Bernard Hopkins' head and was ruled a TKO loser as a result of it. I thought The Sim didn't do Technical Decisions, but they did in one of Nino Benvenuti's recent fight so I don't know what's up with these rulings sometimes.

Maybe Greb opened a different cut with punches.

Maybe. I couldn't see reference to any cuts being made by punches, but maybe "re-opened" means newer scar tissue from Griff's recent fights that gets a cut (from punches) again because it is softer than regular skin, rather than it being as I assumed where a cut (from the head) that has stopped bleeding being hit with punches and starting bleeding again.

I was confused by this also back when it happened during the Ryan vs Hopkins fight but after I looked at the stats of the fight I concluded that it was not the cut caused by the headbutt that was reopened and forced the stoppage but another cut altogether

you can see with the fight stats that the cut caused by the head butt was never reopened
Cuts totals (opened/reopened/worsened) 0 / 0 / 0 3 / 2 / 1
Cuts after head butts (opened/reopened/worsened) 0 / 0 / 0 1 / 0 / 0
its the only way to explain it, otherwise the game is broken.
