Dreadful fight for the British. Neither guy deserves a shot at it and one of em will end up champion. You could probably put the guy Dubious in with the winner right away and he'd skelp either of them.

Hopefully whoever wins will defend quickly and continue to keep on the boil a fantastic heavyweight scene in the UK. Worse case scenario they do what John McDermott did with the English title. I hope Cornish wins it as he is more likely to make a quick defence.

With so many challengers about you'd have thought they would enforce mandatories easily enough at the required rate.

What the f*ck are you talking about, mate?

In over 50 fights (combined) no-one, and I do mean NO-ONE, has ever outpointed either one of them. They are obviously master boxers and, as such, deserve our respect.

This one could be titled "The Highlander versus The Flatlander" :box:

Seriously though it could end up being a decent battle between two limited fighters. If I happen to be in Motherwell on that day I'm definitely going :TU:

It might end up being a decent(ish) fight but no way should these two be fighting for a British title. As a British title fight its utter dog shít. The board have knocked back more deserving guys at other weights for a shot at the belt.

I think Cornish would've probably made enough fundamental improvements under Nelson to beat Sexton at this stage in his career. 8/9/10 years ago it would've been a different story. I'd bet my weeks wages that whoever does win loses the title in their first defence.

Isn't this all a bit harsh on Sexton? Ok I'm not entirely sure what he's been upto for the last couple of years but he doesn't appear to have any major backing these days and he proved himself to be a decent-ish domestic level operator years ago...he's still only 32. Surely he is the favorite?

Not really. He doesn't deserve a shot at the British same as Cornish. Sextons two best wins were arguably against the game but limited Martin Rogan. Fights he was losing IMO. That was about 8 years ago. He hasn't fought anyone with a pulse since Price chinned him about 6 years ago. On his game I'd rate him as better than Cornish but inactivity will probably cost him here. Cornish isn't great and not very easy on the eye but he's a big unit and Billy Nelson has more than likely made a few improvements. If he stays disciplined he could more than likely jab his way to a big points win or late KO. It really is a bad fight for the British title.

Step aside Scott Gammer, take a break Micky Steeds, THIS is the worst British heavyweight title pairing of all time.

I would love to see Dubois do that. Great way to start his career. He could win it outright before moving to the next level.

The thing is if he did put himself forward to face the winner the board would probably veto it and say he's not experienced enough or ranked highly enough! They're a piss take at times :witzend:

As has been highlighted earlier, it is a poor fight for a title as prestigious as the Lonsdale Belt. I would have thought that Dave Allen would be looking at it as his next target in his career...

But no doubt Eddie will work his magic and get him in contention for it soon enough.

Surely even Gorman is more deserving with his last win? Madness.

I'd imagine he'll be banging on the door to fight the winner.

Heard a thing with Dave Allen the other day and he wants the British title ASAP. He'd beat both of these guys comfortably you'd think as would Gorman.

Is Ian Millarvie still boxing? Surely the big one for Scottish heavies is for the Scottish title?

He hadn't fought in years then I think he had a comeback fight a couple months back. Not sure what's happening with him tbh.

I think it's a acceptable fight.
The fighters above them are above British level.

These two and Allen, Gorman etc are at around the same level currently IMO.

If the title stays active there could be some decent fights.

I tip Cornish to use his reach to edge out a close points win.

None of them have a decent win between them. Sexton in the last 8 years and Cornish full career. It sends out the wrong message. It's as if they're getting a shot by default and that devalues the title IMO.

Gorman fought Akinlade a week or two ago. That would've been a more deserving contest for the belt than this tripe.
