400,000

PPV is still kind of suffering since May-Pac..

Might hit the 500,000 mark..

Well, pretty much every boxing fan in Mexico would buy it if they could afford it, so yeah, it should do 800K+. IMO though, it is a hyped up fight that will do nothing other than show Jr. being to weak to compete with Canelo. 164.5 is a weight he hasn't seen in 5 years, when Martinez totally schooled him. Fonfara stopped him two years ago at 172, and he is no world beater.

Pardon my ignorance but do PPV numbers refer only to USA sales ? And how do folk in Mexico watch it ?

I'm expecting similar numbers to Canelo-Cotto, but probably slightly under due to the recent downturn. I'll guess 800,000.

What about Alvarez/Cotto?
Let's cut the Floyd blame game.

PPV have sucked because the "face of boxing"
just gave us Khan and Smith ... and now Chavez Jr.

Floyd and Manny is distant memory.
GBP's current bullsh!t is the problem.

Bar that fight, Cotto is/was still a huge name..,

You are right, fights havent exactly been the best.. but we know Alvarez will always hit the 300k mark no matter who he fights.

It will be between 600k and 700k of unfortunate fans who paid for that bore fest.

Canelo alone is a bigger draw than both Ward and Kovalev AND it was Cinco de Mayo weekend.

How could you blame PPVs suffering all on him when he only has Canelo? Why isn't the other thousand or so fighers from different promotions selling?

We just had the best fight possible for boxing last week. Either a rematch or AJ v Wilder would be the best going forward but we have two of the three best welters squaring off in less than two weeks. We have the rematch of the controversial fight between the two top rated light heavies, both rated p4p in most top ten lists, coming up in little over a month. We have 3G v GingerHead coming up in September.

I would say that we are being spoiled relative to the last ten to fifteen years.

Edit; oops, this was meant for another thread

According to Fat Dan, it will do at least 1,000,000.

"No official numbers yet for #CaneloChavez PPV but I'm told it will be at least 1 million buys. A huge number for the fight. #boxing"

I feel for you guys in the states who had to pay$70 for it, I watched it for free in the UK and feel as though I deserve money back.

What does that have to do with Oscar when: 1. He isn't the only promoter. 2: He only have 1 top fighter out of many that belong to other promoters.
