Extremely strong division at domestic level, but at world? Well the proof is in some of the names, John Molina Jnr no.4 according to BoxRec.

In the top 40 Britain have 6 fighters, 1 in the top 10, Ricky Burns. Others in top 30 are Ohara, Davies Jnr, Nurse & Catterall.

Whilst they're all solid fighters, Nurse is still British champ! And he's in the top 20 I believe. I'm only going off of boxrec like I say, but it's telling!

Crawford has seemingly no competition, Postol is possibly the best of the rest, there's a lot of good prospects away from the British bunch that may set the division on fire, such as Orozco, Lipinets, Baranchyk & Ulysses.

It's in a weird transition period that has Burns or Indongo as a unified champ!

What you's think of this division, I'm personally just hoping we get the domestic dust ups we crave, like Catterall vs Nurse, Ohara vs Taylor, etc.

Strange the way things have panned out in this division but I still think it's a decent division to be fair. Broner and Crawford make it a good division.

If Broner is the best the division has to offer, I would argue the opposite

Crawford is a p4p contender, If he steps up to WW, which I'm surprised he hasn't, then it's a pretty dire division

140 is a good example of what happenes when a strong fighter comes along and cleans up the division. Crawford has noone to fight.

Heavyweight

I think Broner is staying at Welterweight now. Though I keep hearing Barthelemy is going up to 140 (hasn't happened yet). Whatever happened to Omar Figueroa by the way?

Divisions go through cycles. Crawford is p4p but there's not a lot else. He's carrying it.

When it had Bradley, Khan, Garcia etc it was a pretty competitive division with decent depth too, at the top, with the likes of Peterson, Alexander etc

Not doubting Crawford at all but with what he has in front of him, I'm shocked he hasn't moved up yet! Especially with a Pac fight there (apparently), that makes him a star.

I'm pretty sure Figueroa's last fight was at light middleweight!

That would make it solid, I just think like you say, it's in a bit of a lull at the minute, I doubt the worst division status will last long!

He was injured, don't remember exactly what.a lot of pbc fighters sit around.

Maybe he wasn't great but but he wasn't bad - would happily watch him against Broner or Lamont Peterson or test an up-and-comer like Frankie Gomez or Egidijus Kavaliauskas or someone like that.

Figueroa has been plagued by hand issues...happens when bang Arakawa's rock head.
I think 135 is terrible my self. Linares and Garcia are class, it the rest of the division is less than inspiring, 140 ain't great

As for whoever mentions strawweight, it's a pretty strange time down there. You have two Thai's (Wanheng Menayothin and Knockout CP Freshmart) who will almost certainly not face off, Takayama has just retired. And the division has a lot of exciting talent (Fukuhara, Kyoguchi, Koura, Jerusalem,Konishi, Juarez, Buitrago,Khonco, Rojas...). Not the deepest division but a nicely poised one

Without Crawford there isn't much else to get excited about, but I'm sure Garcia will move up soon, and hopefully while Crawford is still there.

Some good fights domestically, whoever climbs the pile (either Davis or Taylor) could find themselves in a decent position.

Crawford is obviously the top dog but if he does move up (sooner the better IMO) then I'd say Broner is probably the next best guy. Don't get me wrong, I hate the little odious twerp but on his game he's a force at 140. I'd heavily favour him against Burns but if Ricky were to beat him personally it would rank amongst my best nights as a boxing fan.

Agree. IF Broner gets to 140 and it's a big if with his dedication, I'd suggest he can give Crawford a competitive fight. He would be the second best guy in the division IMO.
