Uh oh? Gone from Spike and ESPN, and Chris Manix has apparently suggested that it will be dropped from other networks too.
Does this mean fewer fights for the huge Haymon stable? Could we see more guys jumping ship?

We had this long debate more than a year ago, with people from this forum joyfully and bizarrely celebrating its rumoured demise. Even the HBO pundits seemed to be revelling in its alleged failure... and look what happened?
The PBC will eventually be dropped from certain networks, as the original time buy contracts expire, with Al Haymon eventually demanding/negotiating licence fees for the rights to continue televising his shows.
We also know that the PBC strategically televise shows on a seasonal basis to avoid going head-to-head with bigger sporting events or during time periods where their target demographic are least likely to watch boxing or TV in general. Boxing on Sky Sports in the UK usually experiences a similar two to three month hiatus in the Summer.
There are still a lot of PBC events being televised by Showtime and Fox until the end of May - many more non-PPV shows than HBO are broadcasting.
So why don't we just wait and see what happens?

Looks pretty dire, nice Showtime schedule but that leaves many fighters sitting on the sidelines.they should try and get on British shows.

I won’t repeat what I’ve said in my previous post in this thread, but here are some pertinent points to consider:
• Date = 22/04/17; Network = Showtime; Berto vs. Porter; Title = final eliminator for the WBC welterweight title
• Date = 22/04/17; Network = Showtime; Charlo vs. Hatley; Title = WBC World super welterweight title
• Date = 25/04/17; Network = Fox Sports 1; Barrios vs. Lara; Title = Non-title bout
• Date = 29/04/17; Network = Fox Sports 1; Shumenov vs. Dorticos; Title = WBA World cruiserweight title
• Date = 20/05/17; Network = Showtime; Russell vs. Escandon; Title = WBC World featherweight title
• Date = 27/05/17; Network = Showtime; Brook vs. Spence Jr.; Title = IBF World welterweight title
• Date = 11/06/17; Network = TBC; Selby vs. Barros; Title = IBF World featherweight title
• Date = 23/06/17; Network = Bounce TV; TBC; Title = TBC
• Date = 23/09/17; Network = NBC; TBC; Title = TBC
ESPN's 12-card slate is scheduled to run from April to August, which has yet to be announced.
Spike’s two-year contract with the PBC has expired, but there are ongoing discussions about the possibility of televising future fights, but nothing is planned in the short-term.
Who else is televising non-PPV bouts in the US over the same time period that are better fights than these?

Spence brook is a matchroom show and still not certain the go ahead because of Kell Brooks weight. The check weigh ins will be very interesting.
Im not that arsed about PBCs demise I just want good fights and people active. Some of their fighters activity has been terrible. Like Gary Russell Jr what a colossal waste of talent he is.

It was all a con to manipulate investors and steal their money. Haymons made more money this way than via the fights. A sham.

PBC was false advertising from the start.
There was never anything "Premier" about it, and half the time you wouldn't be seeing actual "Champions" fight.

You gotta give it to him though, how we persuaded a fund to invest $500 million in a boxing franchise takes some doing lol.

I agree, I do wonder how he sold it...$900 odd million is what the lawsuit says. It's incredible!

Not to mention his massive percentage of the fighters purses that have been insanely overpriced. Give me a billion to buy time shares on network TV and pay for mismatches that I make money on? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give it up bro. People hate here Haymon because ...
He does the same things HBO, TR and GBP do.
But whatever, I guess it's back to boxing 6/7 years ago ...

Yeah, I agree.
You should ask Al Haymon for your money back to compensate you for the costs you've paid to the free-to-air TV networks to watch the PBC.
You know what I mean? The PBC shows must cost you money that is comparable to the cable subscriptions and one-off PPV charges you pay HBO to watch events promoted by GBP and Top Rank?
But whatever, I guess you forgot to consider this point long ago...

I once did a PBC VS HBO/TR/GBP total costs and matches and it concluded it makes no sense to have more hate for Haymon/PBC,
because it literally costs you less. Much less.
And the best fights were generally on par/or better than HBO/TR/GBP offerings.
It just got ignored, and everyone went back to hating Haymon for things HBO/TR/GBP do.
It's weird. I thought racism. Got told no. And that I'm a racist.
The strong anti-PBC sentiment is not really logical in anyway, economically or based on actual fights.
Fight fans seemed to side with Oscar and took it a bit too far.
Funny how DLH is showing the world how he runs things ...
He always makes the best matches like Khan, Smith, and Chavez Jr.
And those fights are on free TV

It does seem like Haymon has decided he can't keep losing money hand over fist and has pushed as many shows as possible onto Showtime who will actually pay him good money for his cards. I think we're more or less headed back to 2014. Haymon will continue working with Showtime and the PBC brand will sort of lurk in the background.
I think PBC's bold claims of changing the industry and bringing the sport back to prominence were mostly silly rubbish, but they've put a lot of fights on free TV and the matchmaking hasn't been significantly worse than other promoters, so more power to 'em.

I think it's dying and Gaymon is blowing his load trying to revive it. Not sure what can be done at this point, though. He already threw all his money at the problem and got no returns. I haven't heard anything about the stocks recently, though.

It was a valiant effort, Boxing just will never be mainstream here again. Past the losing money, the timebuys aren't worth it to the networks anyway because the ratings are abysmal. Showtime pays, so they can match up some good fights, leaves the majority of the stable twiddling thumbs. Al needs to talk to Hearn about getting on UK shows.

The PBC isn't a dime cheaper than HBO for me. It would be $10 less if I wanted to skip their best fights on Showtime. Of my 1,000 channels I don't get Bounce. The whole free thing is laughable.
