It pains me to write him off but it seems to be the end of the line for Ricky certainly at world level anyway. He's a proud guy and has been a great ambassador for the sport in and out the ring. I can't see him retiring to be honest so what do you think he should do next?

If Crolla steps up that would be a natural fight to make and a decent earner for both. Both with fast car so easy enough fight to make. Both guys also coming off world title defeats.

I wouldn't be surprised if McGuigan were to make an offer to Burns for the Taylor fight as well. Not sure if Burns would take it but I wouldn't mind seeing that to get an idea of how good Taylor actually is.

Any other options I've overlooked or any other ideas?

IFL video after the Indongo fight Burns said he wouldn't take that fight and said maybe the winner of a Taylor-Davies fight. I would say its the Crolla fight or international 10 rounder.

I think it's the end now too Stuart. Probably a farewell fight in Glasgow, possibly against Crolla as it's an easy fight to make.

Josh Taylor looks like a star in the making. Dying to see him in with someone like Burns, Provodnikov, Troya. Someone just past their best. Good name for the record but there's some cracking domestic fights to be made as well.

Was always surprised at Burns lack of power as a pro. I remember him stopping quite a lot of guys in the ams.

He needs to get back in Scotland with Billy and get his weight down to lightweight.. Ricky made Indongo look good last night Gonzales was way better.. Sims is a terrible tactician and could see that last night

Specially after hearing some of the Burns sparring stories , about hard he sparred and that and that's just how he was in general

I know Billy and Ricky have remained friends since tech split but imo that isn't the answer for Ricky, he has had a great career and imo he needs to look at either lowering his sights to Euro/Domestic level opponents and collect some pay days but as one of his biggest fans and someone who has watched him box since he was 11 I feel his best days are pretty much over. The decline started whilst with Billy and I just think it is a mix of people working him out, his hard career and the fact most guys he boxes now are as big if not bigger than him at this point.

On sims tactics, I agree he didn't seem to give too much advice but someone with Ricky's experience should have been able to try something different on his own without having to just listen to what Tony was saying. I can also remember a few times when Ricky was with Billy and even when getting good advice he sometimes didn't listen.

Yes I seen in the gym first hand him not listening.. Indongo was not anything special very awkward yes but a 3 weight world champ should not be going back in straight lines.. All he had to was step left a wee lean back and Indongo was falling in all night.. Can see Hearn throwing Indongo in with Ohara and i believe Ohara will beat him..

Ricky is very poor against southpaws so should not fight them seems like someone who is very easily led

Crolla pretty much on the same boat.

I'd like to see him hang them up. He's done very well to become a three weight world champion and I don't like the idea of him becoming a yardstick for up and coming fighters. Sure there may be a couple of half-decent pay days if he lowers his sights below world-level but, as others have said, he has had a hard career and is it worth the extra punishment?

Crolla has no business being at 140. For a guy who seems quite switched on he should know better.

I've heard him say he wants 100 fights, even if he ends up a journeyman.

I would like the Josh Taylor fight next to make Josh the top guy in Scottish boxing ( if he wins) however with Mcguigans v Hearn it is unrealistic

My first choice would be to see a Burns retire. I don't want to see him as a gatekeeper losing to fighters he would have beaten in his prime.

Plenty of pay days left for Burns, it depends how much money he needs to secure his future. I think the Hearns are good payers but financially he had to start over again since FW won the court case.

You are right but Crolla can't bet any of the big names at 135. So his business is done there and Burns is a good selling fight and winnable one. Burns
probably shouldn't be 140 but his options where there same will be for Crolla.
