For the vacant Commonwealth Lightweight title on the Murray card this Saturday, ive not seen Appleyard so cant really say how I think this fight will pan out, Dodd's fought at the higher level and you know he's gonna give all he's got and i'd have thought his experience will be key, i'd like to see Dodd win a major title, he should've already been British champ

Hope Dodd can pick up the commonwealth then go for the British against Barret. Dodd should've already been crowned champion. Him and Barret would be a decent little scrap I reckon.

Appleyard has been made slight favourite in this one.

Whenever I see Dodd getting a deserving chance at domestic honours, I often think about what Gary Buckland is doing with his career. I felt he's been written off too quickly.
I've read he's been sparring but hasn't fought in getting on for a year also... always in good fights, I'm suprised no big promoter is giving him a second chance. There was bugger all in his fight with Dodd.

117-112 Dodd for me, great start from Appleyard I gave him the 1st 3 rounds but he seemed to become a bit fixed on landing the same right hand all the time after hurting Dodd in the 1st with it which allowed Masher to regroup and get to work himself, I was impressed with the way Dodd worked to a plan, never got flustered and once he started finding his range he never allowed Appleyard back into it, he fought a smart fight and I never thought he was capable of boxing such a mature fight, great to see him improving all the time

Made up for Dodd. I think most of us on here were gutted for him after the Cardle fights so it's nice to see him pick up the Commonwealth. I hope he can get another crack at the British next as in all fairness he should've been champion already. Him and Barret would be a good little scrap.

What about Dodd v Barrett and Cardle v Appleyard ?
Both should be easy to make - 2 with Hearn and 2 with Stefy Bull/Dave Coldwell.
Mashed is limited but he's a real trier - he's getting some decent pay days on the Liverpool shows.

Why does tom stalker think he will get a big fight after two wins within 8 fights with 2 loses(1 by ko) and 3 draws? I dont think he is british title level, not at lightweight anyway,he will have to prove his worth before gettin in for the british

He is limited but I thought in moments he looked class to be honest, his movement and the way he boxed to orders was really decent.
I know Appleyard played into his hands a bit but Dodds movement was a level above

I dont think Cardle or Appleyard deserve an eliminator just yet, they need to earn it imo.Just as Tom Stalker does, theres a lot more deserving guys overseas that should be getting a crack at the Commonwealth title before some of our lads but being realistic and if it is a Brit then why not make Stalker v Joe Murray as an eliminator? If Stalker wants the Dodd fight that much go and beat Joe Murray.
