Canelo vs. Lemieux, 16th September?

"Lemieux remains option in fall for Canelo, says prez Eric Gomez" (Source: The RING)

Golden Boy remains open to the possibility of matching Canelo Alvarez against David Lemieux in September instead of a more anticipated clash with middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin...

Eric Gomez, president of Golden Boy, stated the following during a conference call “Canelo wants to fight Golovkin. He’s made that very clear to everybody. Canelo said it. We’ve said it. Golovkin said that he wants that fight. We continue to negotiate for that fight. But, if whatever reason that fight doesn’t happen, yes, David would be in line (to face Canelo).”

If the demands of Team GGG are ultimately deemed excessive by GBP, then Canelo could still engage in lucrative bouts against the likes of Lemieux and Saunders, as well as receiving sizable paydays for re-matching the likes of Cotto and Chavez Jr?

In terms of Team GGG, it’s possible that they may have burned their bridges with Billy Joe Saunders and Fwank Warren, due to Abel Sanchez's crystal clear denials of the existence of any injury to Golovkin.

Abel Sanchez has already made it clear that GGG won’t be sharing the ring with Jacobs again for at least "five or six fights" time, which is another way of saying the bout will never happen.

Thoughts?

EO started another garbage thread about GGG. What a surprise.

Canelo can fight Lemieux who has a good chance to put him to sleep. That will strengthen Canyellow's reputation of a duck.

Read the article and then tell me that the information I've conveyed to this forum is utter "garbage".

All this talk of GGG rematching Jacobs got me wondering.
It's coming up for now 3 years since Alvarez fought Erislandy Lara yet there's no hint of a rematch there, instead Canelo chooses to fight Chavez Jr.

It'd be alright but not exactly legacy building.

The article itself is fine, but you added your garbage.

I love how Canelo and Golden Boy keep discussing future fights instead of the one in front of them. It used to be taboo to discuss anything but the fight at hand and fighters wouldn't even think of it. I don't see how they could be THAT positive about defeating JCCJR. This will be the biggest, toughest guy that Canelo has ever tasted and he's in for much more of a war than I believe he or his team believe.

Say what you want about JCCJR, the kids got a mean streak in him and he can take a beating. Plus JCCJR found ONE fight that could put him back in the spotlight and make the world forget quitting on his stool or getting blasted by Sergio. If he can pull this fight out, he'd be the most popular man in Mexico. That's one hell of a carrot to be chasing after. I'd never count him out.

Lemieux being a backup option has been obvious since he was added to the Chavez PPV. This is an old news.
