Betting advice for AJ vs Klitschko

Evening lads, just wanted some advice on the betting for the bout next week I personally feel like it's an even bout but wanted to know what you think ?
Fair enough pal thought on putting a few quid on AJ to win early maybe rounds 1-4Ossyrules wrote:Boxing isn't a great sport to bet on being a 2 horse race, the bookies are the best tipster, as in they get it right with the favourite, a lot.
I haven't seen odds yet, but my instinct at the moment is that Joshua will win, between 5-8. But whether I place that bet will depend on the return
Joshua is a good finisher, so if the opening is there and klitschko is hurt, I expect Joshua to go for the kill.kbackup408 wrote:Fair enough pal thought on putting a few quid on AJ to win early maybe rounds 1-4Ossyrules wrote:Boxing isn't a great sport to bet on being a 2 horse race, the bookies are the best tipster, as in they get it right with the favourite, a lot.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Boxing is a great sport to bet on as it is, in your words, a two horse race. Yes there are many factors involved, but we're dealing with two men. Football eg is about 22 men not including substitutes....Ossyrules wrote:Boxing isn't a great sport to bet on being a 2 horse race, the bookies are the best tipster, as in they get it right with the favourite, a lot.
Fair comment. I pretty much exclusively bet on the horses these days. And sometimes the big golf tournaments. The prices on boxing generally don't entice meboxingknockout wrote:I don't mean to be disrespectful, but you have no idea what you're talking about. As to the bookies 'mostly getting it right' - if that were the case you could bet on the favourite every time and be in profit. Sports bet making is about probability and though the sports bettor is essentially betting against a 13-15% or more handicap; if he has experience, knowledge and nous, can spot a value or 'wrong' price... that's when you bet.
Check out the betting thread here and you will see loads of underdogs winning and prices changing.
Don't believe the hype. When I used to keep a spreadsheet, I used to win plus 30-40% of my investment; which means if you include the handicap, is between plus 43% and 55% advantage over the bookie price..,,
I know bugger all about horses so never bet on Them! I seen guys in the industry know the bobby Moore and bet well, but I would suggest people betting off newspaper tips and racing post might as well piss their money up the window (and it would be more fun!Ossyrules wrote:Fair comment. Boxing is a tough sport to bet on, as we often get swayed by emotion as we're dealing with individuals... but once you get used to it and follow some rational rules, there is money to be made!
I would suggest there are only two bets in round betting: ko1 or points win. Everything else is too randombig lennox wrote:Betting on rounds, however tempting, is very hard to predict. In this fight, though, I would bet on Joshua by ko. I just can't see any other result.
Absolutely. The odds on Joshua to win by ko, regardless of round is 4/6, and I think that is quite telling. I can't see any other result than this. Wlad will be too slow, too scared and get tired easily and get taken out. I think it will be brutal.boxingknockout wrote:I would suggest there are only two bets in round betting: ko1 or points win. In my dream I was watching it in my livingroom like I will be doing next week and it was one of them vivid ones. They were fighting in a leisure complex that was the only thing.......... And Jimmy Savile was the ref but still.....
That last bit was a joke20 quid on Wlad in the first. I hope I'm wrong because I want AJ to win and fancy him to do so but I need to bet only because of this faaackin dream!!
If it comes in I'm hiring an agent and touring the pubs of Scotland as some sort of retarded Aldi version of Nostradamus! 3 quid gets you a prediction and a packet of beef hula hoopsOiky wrote:Stuarty30 wrote:I had a dream Klit licked AJ in the firstkbackup408 wrote:Evening lads, just wanted some advice on the betting for the bout next week I personally feel like it's an even bout but wanted to know what you think ?I need to bet on it now! I do hope you are right as I would like Wlad to take him out, but there are differences - Wlad is older, more faded, more cautious, coming off a defeat and a long layoff when comparing to Lennox. AJ compared to Grant may turn out to be a decent shout to be honest, not saying I would make the comparison myself as I think he has more about him but it did take quite a while for Grant to be found out and at similar stages of their careers there may not be a lot between them. Golota began the exposing of Grant (which maybe Whyte to a lesser extend also did, least showed a glimpse that will become something we will one day look back at and nod)Spiker wrote:I am going for Wlad to dismantle AJ similar to Lennox Lewis did to Michael Grant. Everybody is forgetting Wlad is several leagues better than anyone AJ has fought. Whats wrong with you all
Lewis was in his prime when he fought Grant. Wlad is 41.Spiker wrote:I am going for Wlad to dismantle AJ similar to Lennox Lewis did to Michael Grant. Everybody is forgetting Wlad is several leagues better than anyone AJ has fought. Whats wrong with you all
Go on then. Rub it in.dalcumly wrote:Betfred had Klitschko to win inside the distance at 3-1. That's where my money is going, some of which came from backing Bellew stopping Haye.
Jamesmcdonnell commented that I was trying to be smart when the Sunday before the Haye/Bellew I said Haye was a 'shot' fighter and Bellew would stop him. He'll know for sure whether I'm smart or not next Sunday!
Agreed, they're definitely prone to jumping on the hype train. Sure, they usually get it right but, not at any great depth. (Yet I still place far too many losing betsmickey1975 wrote:Most bookies don't know a lot about boxing.
