Now I realise he is most likely the best guy in his division; but there is nobody of significance in his division aside from Tyson Fury ... and Fury needs to lose about 5 stone, and even if he gets in shape, there is every likelihood with him that the warmup fight sees him getting KO`d.

Fighting mediocre nobodies may be an option short term - but purses will shrink as less people tune in.

So who is out there for Joshua to earn huge paydays from?

1. Re-match Wlad
2. Tyson Fury
3. Wilder

Much smaller paydays.
4. Tony Bellend
5. David Haye
6. Joseph Parker
7. Hughie Fury

He will make a pretty penny and you could see him reach 9 figures in earnings but he wont surpass Mayweather. No chance

Maybe. But Moneyweather never got the big stadium crowds.
It could happen if he can stick in there for another 5-6 years at the top.

I heard in the range of 100,000,000 but a more reliable answer would be appreciated.

The population of the uk is about 65,000,000 and I think they were guesstimating before the fight 1-1.5million so will be interesting to hear, Fast Eddie has said before the revene doesn't really come from the crowds at the event because the most of that is eaten up by the cost of running the stadium and stuff, the reason mayweather made so much is he was a PPV star for years and the US PPV is around $55-$60 a pop so unless the US keeps churning out American heavyweights who can generate US PPV sales too AJ has no hope, deontay wilder could certainly be a PPV fight in a fight or twos time but AJ would have to fight there because the US won't pay for a PPV for a fight 4-5 in the afternoon IMO it's more of a nightly social thing, people think now because AJ earned 10-15million last night it will only go up but unless he fights klitschko, wilder or fury next it's more than likely a fight against Ortiz or pulev his mandatories he will earn considerably less

Joshua will earn millions for routine defences against sub standard opposition. Throw in a Fury or Wilder and he'll make well over £15m for each fight. He's the golden ticket

He won't match Floyd because he isn't big in the States. He would need to crack the US market to top up his earning potential.

How many opponents are out there for Joshua who aren't sub standard?

Wilder - obviously.
I think Pulev, Ortiz and Parker are all on a similar level. Parker's title doesn't mean that much. I think everyone would now expect Joshua to be a massive favourite against all of them.
Fury - albeit he doesn't have a licence and is obese.
Povetkin but again, the drug issue is there.
Can we really call Haye a worthwhile opponent? He's injured and has just been beaten by a crusierweight who openly admits Joshua would leather him and wants no part of the fight.

After this you're looking at the likes of Hughie, Whyte, Teper. There's not really that much depth.

Not much depth as it stands but those names, assuming he comes through them unscathed in a hypothetical situation, takes him through a good two years worth of fights. By then other challengers will have emerged.

Didn't he earn £3m for Whyte? That will probably be bottom line for any fight he's involved in from now on after what happened on Saturday.

It might be worth it to look at how Floyd cracked the PPV market before deciding.

He wasn't a PPV player until he faced popular attractions Gatti and Judah which helped to finally attract De la Hoya, the biggest name and PPV attraction in the sport...

What fights can help Joshua build his stardom further?

A rematch of what has already been hailed as one of the great heavyweight title fights, Wlad, would sell.

Fury, who has pedigree as an ex champ who didn't lose his title in the ring, and is bound to turn it pre fight into one of those British grudge matches that sell so well...and if Fury can find his old form and fights well, there's potential for more fights in a rivalry.

Wilder, who is so important to the American scene, a protected guy with a title belt and unbeaten record - in order to cross over.

There's some pedigree sure to outgrow cruiserweight, very big and impressive cruiserweights Usyk and Gassiev to add some depth to the heavyweights.

It's potentially possible.

Earnings are going to continue to rise in this sport just like in others, at least at the top level. Obviously the advent of TV, PPV, etc helped a lot but run of the mill guys like Broner are making more in a single fight than somebody like Bob Fitzsimmons made in his whole career!

Heavyweight is the darling class of the media, Joshua fits every media bill to a T. He doesn't need rivalries or top opponents to make a lot of money. His potential is MASSIVE.

I don't see how he could surpass Mayweather.

He will earn very well - but my point is that there simply are not any mega fights for him to earn more than Mayweather. Even if Tyson Fury shifted all the weight, had 2 warm up fights and managed not to look bad, or get knocked out ... it still wouldnt generate much more than the Wlad fight.

Highly unlikely he surpasses Mayweather. He would need a long unbeaten run and a few 'mega fights'.
