Does anybody know ?

Hearn said it broke British PPV record which was 1.15m for Mayweather-Hatton. Sky/Matchroom don't release the numbers though.

If that's true there is absolutely no way a rematch does not happen. I hope Wlad retires because he's only going to be older next time out, but I can't blame anyone for wanting to ride this out.

Matchroom are sitting on a goldmine, and to be fair to Eddie Hearn he'll put AJ in with dangerous fighters rather than protecting his golden goose (also see Brook v Spence).

British PPV records will be broken if they can make the AJ v Fury fight. WK will be huge, not sure it will break the record, also hugh paydays v Wilder and Ortiz..

I read somewhere that AJ will end up making more money than Floyd. That's crazy! Floyd made those massive paydays later in his career as he managed to stay undefeated and maintain his aura.. Unless AJ improves he's not going to go on a long unbeaten streak if he consistently fights the top guys (over say a 10 year period)

Maybe you didn't see Joshua win his Gold Medal fight where he beat Robert Cammarelle.. AJ had no skills. He was just a big and strong kid with tons of athleticism that was very poorly directed.. So in only 5 years as a pro he's built his skills to a remarkable degree while guys like Breazeale, Martin, Washington, Whyte, Parker, Helenius, Rivas, Hughie Fury, Ugonoh, Cornish etc. are inching along slowly, still showing not extremely impressive, mediocre, half-assed, or even worse skills... I guess you can say they can only get better, but Joshua IS getting better.

Sure, but it's highly unlikely he will go on a long unbeaten streak in the heavyweight division and have mega fights along the way to get anywhere near what Floyd made.

The British Sky Box Office PPV record was 1.5m for the Mayweather-Pacquiao super-fight. Eddie Hearn has claimed that the Joshua-Klitschko bout has exceeded this.

Several media outlets are speculating that the likely figure is 1.6m, but I don't know if this will ever be confirmed.

it was close to 1.5 in the us over two viewings, but not ppv. It wouldn't have done 100k here, but if it got to a 3rd fight it might be able to sell a bit.

LOL.. NOBODY has good skills to begin with, but the above still don't have them after years and years as pros.. It's all in how fast you acquire skills, and how long you can retain them.. Mayweather was up to speed in only 17 fights and kept them a long time.. Hagler took quite a few fights to get there.. Wladimir had 3 times as many amateur fights as Joshua and still had major flaws after 43 professional fights.. Part of it was his early coaching was poor, but you have to be a quicker study.. Louis had a brilliant trainer in Jack Blackburn and easily dominated Max Baer 14 months after he turned pro.. Baer never learned how to box.. Joshua has more raw talent an absorbs everything like a sponge, than he has brilliant coaches.
