Sat watching Friday Night Fights and Teddy Atlas is crapping on the fighters as he always does. Over the course of smack talking Morgan Fitch's record (granted I've never heard of Fitch before tonight) Teddy says Fitch has a draw with "some guy who had 19 wins and and 21 losses". The "some guy" in reference is Darnell Boone

Teddy and BHop in the booth. They need a translator if they want to make this work.

What kind of boxers do they expect to get? ESPN doesn't pay s**t for boxing. ESPN is firing people left and right.

I have it on because I want to see gamboa, but Teddy is the only announcer that has made me not watch fights at all. He's the WOAT.

GBP signed him recently and part of the deal was him staying active instead of fighting every other year. I'm guessing he took this 30k or whatever pay day in good faith. Probably a good move for him. Their stable is thin, he could easily find himself on Canelo's September ppv.

Teddy has such a knack for bringing the worst out of every fight. I honestly can't believe he still works. He breaks out every fight by telling you how bad each fighter is and how they're records suck and they've got no skills, etc etc etc. It's not that hard to hype a fight, hire one of the thousand MMA commentators to teach Atlas how.

Then he just ends up tripping over his words trying to make epic statements about how the fighters are warriors or something.

I feel bad for the casual or someone flipping channels and ending up on boxing. "Oh, let me watch a little bit of the fight" thinks the casual. "These guys are terrible, they have manufactured records, they both suck, not an instant first round knockout so he's not very good, he's never fought in New Mexico so how do we know he could be the New Mexico light weight champion" and so on and so on.

Teddy Atlas annoying commentary seems kind of muffled or muted to some extent on this ESPN telecast. Before It used to be a battle of Atlas and Kenney who was the most annoying. But now it seems a little bit more watchable.

Does anybody think Teddy wants Lopez to fight from the outside and some other comment about geography?

I don't drink, but if I'd did I'd be taking a drink every time Teddy says "geography".

Teddy is a lot of things. Some good, some bad.
His little pre fight sessions in the ring did help my wife understand a lot more about boxing and made her almost a bigger fan than me. So I have to give him some credit for that.
I get the OK from her for a lot more PPV's and for that I am gratefully in Teddys debit.

I'm hoping to hear Teddy Atlas prediction for Canelo vs. Chavez Jr.

I feel bad for the lead announcers that have had to work with him. I'll never forget Green and that trialhorse when Allan got rocked and papa got excited...teddy just screamed over him about the distance. I sincerely hate him personally. By far my most hated figure in Boxing history.

Atlas telling Hopkins his insight into Gamboa's inside fighting is completely wrong was pretty outrageous. I'm sure Hops would have loved to smack him upside the head right there.

Teddy should be in the Harold role. Not his wretched scorecards, but do the prefight strategy that is actually good and then let him come in and blabber about what's going on for thirty seconds a couple times a fight. he literally refuses to commentate, or let anyone else commentate, on the inring action.

I get the comparison but Gambo never got away with it as it was obvious. Jones got away with it and hid it quite well.

Castellanos is definitely one of the better 24-12 fighters there's been! Yet another strong comeback after losing...
