I see Harry Simon the undefeated WBO middlewieght champion and WBO Super Welterweight champion made a return to boxing last night. Not sure if he won as of yet though.

Simon now fighting at cruiserweight was 30-0 before retiring was occasionally fighting in the UK before beating Ronald Wright for the WBO title

He's an odd one not had a meaningful fight in 15 years and fights journeymen almost exclusively in Namibia. Yet he keeps going.

Is he not a bit of a bad bastard away from the ring?

He killed someone in a car crash I'm sure. He was really good in his day.

I remember him over here a couple of times. Fought Alexander didn't he?

I watched his fight with Winky Wright a couple months back. Was on Frank Nation.

Wright for me mate.

I had Harry at the time I think, when I watched it a few years after and scored it I had wright. Harry was quick, Wright more precise. I always cheered for wright one of my favourites.

I always had a soft spot for Wright as well mate. Went on a bit too long as most fighters tend to do.

He must have made Grant Gloves a fortune, never seen them till he came along. His arms were that long he could have the ear muffs on and still guard against body shots. Great jab.

He beat Wright deservedly for me, outlasted him and more on his shots. It was a very good fight.

Simon also had exciting fights with Lueshing and Alexander in particular.

But he wasn't as good at middleweight, seemed to lose his focus and most had him losing in that poor showing against Rodney Jones, including me.

Yes the guy was a complete f*****g nightmare. He was at fault in two fatal car crashes, unbelievably.. I think three died in the last one.

Speaking of winky, he's a great barometer for how truly great Whitaker was. Julio Cesar Vazquez bounced wright off the canvas like a ball and Whitaker gave up a ton of size and schooled him.

He made Vasquez look clueless.

some truth, although Wright was raw and had yet developed his blocking technique

Whitaker was always great whereas Winky needed seasoning

Whitaker was just a different level. Winky could never have enough seasoning to get there.

All a bit mysterious - looks like the fight didn't take place after all - http://boxrec.com/boxer/5625. I think this has happened before with Simon's fights in the last year or two - something seems to pop up in the schedules but then does not take place. Does anyone know what happened?
