GGG vs Canelo is on for Sept 16th

Seems like it's finally on, and I wanted to start a poll.
Picks? I am a GGG fan, but Canelo has a good chin, and I have a bad feeling that he goes the distance and gets some friendly judging to pull out a decision.

GGG will be too accurate and take over late on. If I was GGG I'd be worried leaving it up to the judges though!

too right, needs to get him out of there but it will take some doing. Needs a couple of knockdowns if its going to the cards.

Should have happened 3 years ago.
I think GGG has showed sign of decline in his last couple of fights, because of this i now make the Canelo fight a lot closer than i would have if it had happened 3 years ago. My initial instinct is to slightly favour GGG, but i'm not making a pick just yet, i'll anylise the fight in detail in the run up and make a call nearer to the date, and once i've done that i have a feeling i might end up swinging in favour of Canelo.

Yes Golovkin has really suffered not getting the fights and the rounds. Looking a bit ragged so the fight with Alvarez will be a bit more competitive. Although I have to say most of Golovkin's problems were against athletic guys and Alvarez isn't the most athletic of fighters.

Alvarez has certainly not covered himself in glory, in his continual avoidance of the real fight out there. It's getting a very tired routine as Canelo beats up an endless stream of overmatched opponents - last night's fight was a nonevent, I watched two rounds then skipped to the end. Unless he takes the GGG fight next he is in danger of being remembered and as a paper tiger who ducked the real challenge.
And the thing is, he is looking a rock solid operator with a bullet-proof chin, giving him a very good chance against Golovkin.....if his camp grow balls enough to take the fight. Though I really hope GGG beats him, and he should be the favourite to do so, assuming there are no weight making shenanigans involved.

Hard fight to pick- Golovkin pre Jacobs, id pick pretty heavily, now im a little unsure. That said, Canelo is not exactly the most mobile guy going- unlike Jacobs proved to be.

Its great news, and a massive event to attend, i bloody wish i could go!
Still, it is too long in the making, they ran there names parallel in the same way as with May-Pac, helping to elevate and keep their profiles high for years, then as interest starts to dwindle in the fight, the promoters let the fight happen. It sucks, but very shrewd way to do business.

If either or both of them have websites you might be able to get tickets that way. I got tickets for Hatton v Castillo and Hatton v Mayweather that way. The fight will probably sell out in minutes so you'll need to do your homework.

Unfortunately this ^^^
GGG needs to force the pace, and put Canelo on the back foot, but the Mexican is slippy, and can see this going the distance. If it goes the distance, I imagine some favourable Golden Boy scoring...

I think this will be rather a war, but GGG has greater firepower. Technically id say they are pretty close but GGGs shots are so hard. Every single shot hurts. Canelo doesnt seem to have enough on his shots to keep GGG off him over the stretch. I think it will be even until the middle rounds then golovkin will begin to put canelo on the back foot i think canelo has a cast iron chin by the looks of things so i think it will be a painful last four as he eats lots of heavy shots.

Think you can buy direct from the venue. Wonder whete it lands. Wonder if golden boy will try and make this in mexico?

The main difference between them is Golovkins jab and footwork, on chin and power and offensive skill I don't think they are *miles* apart but GGG is much better in a jabbing type contest from the outside. Ffs Cotto managed to win 5 or 6 rounds from Canelo in that type of action.
But I agree with the posters who say GGG has to hand out a brutal one sided beat down preferably with knockdowns, to get the decision on points

No way, Vegas is the huge front runner. Possibly Texas if Jerry Jones cranks out the cash.

Yes Vegas I guess, was hoping New York ..id think Mexico unlikely ...but super fights have landed in some odd places before - like Montréal..

I have a horrible feeling GGG has slipped enough for Canelo to scalp him and that would be almost literally too much to bear.
I think I'll probably puke if Canelo wins.

Reason i say that is they could fo huge numbers on the live gate. There are no big venues in vegas. Its more likely to ge vegas though because of casino money.

The Vegas gate would be bigger than any gate in Mexico. Here in Dallas if Jones has the itch to pay a big site fee you could probably do 100k at a huge gate. I'm sure Jerry world is the second choice behind TMobile.

T mobile is the biggest i think. However MGM will probably offer a huge site fee.
