Tell me a better year of boxing than 2017

I said it at the end of 2016. I said in 2016 the top boxers all fought mostly b c d level opponents and at the top only the best were left and that 2017 would be the year that a level vs a level would meet. Boy was i right. This year will surpass everything.

Joshua vs klitschko was the most dramatic elite heavyweight fight in centurys, 2 best heavyweights met. Much better fight than holyfield tyson or lewis tyson. GGG against Jacobs was great. GGG vs Canelo is the most anticipated fight since "the big dissapointmant", Kovalev vs Ward. Potential of Spence vs Thurman end of 2017. Last but not least lomas performances, the guy looks like he is from another galaxy, his skills are prime jones like.

Tell me a better boxing than this, i have a hard time remembering one.

!970-2007 for starters. It's been much better, but you're losing your mind. Every year I grew up was better by a lot.

Klitschko vs. Joshua was a good fight. The matchups get people excited and then some fights turn out to be one-sided like Canelo vs. Chavez. 1990 was a better year with Chavez vs. Taylor and Tyson vs. Douglas. The 1970s and 1980s had good years of boxing too. We're just getting a little taste of what used to be a regularity. The boxing news focuses on one or two fights each week as if nothing else exists. Most of the news these days is pre and post fight BS.

Back in the 90's we had cards on a single night that would that would have put the current yearly output to shame. One night in the 90s:

Heavyweight Mike Tyson V Evander Holyfield
WBA World heavyweight title

Heavyweight Henry Akinwande v Alexander Zolkin
WBO World heavyweight title

Super Bantamweight Antonio Cermeno V Eddy Saenz
WBA World super bantamweight title

Heavyweight Michael Moorer V Frans Botha
IBF World heavyweight title

Minimumweight Ricardo Lopez V Morgan Ndumo
WBC World minimumweight title

Super Middleweight Steve Collins V Nigel Benn
WBO World super middleweight title

Featherweight Naseem Hamed V Remigio Daniel Molina
WBO World featherweight title

Super Welterweight Ronald Wright V Ensley Bingham 16 6 0
WBO World super welterweight title

How many of these fights if staged in this era would happen on one single night?

The promoters nor the fighers would never let that happen today.

I think that it has the potential to be the best year since at least 2003.

It's not wrong to recognise that this is a golden era. Boxing is so much more popular than it was just ten years ago, as a brit we can see pretty much any fight worth seeing no matter where it's held. I remember the days of the best you could do was read about it in the magazines. Boxer wise it might not be the best era, but for coverage we're spoiled. There's some great fights too, Joshua Klitschko was a truly great fight and one that will be remembered. We should enjoy these times as they won't last.

This thread is like "Name a better boxer in the sport's history than Julio Diaz. Go on, I'll wait."

X2.

People claim that boxing sucks because blah and blah, but you are correct. We can look back and claim that there were more great fighters and more great fights but for the majority of my life there was no access to anything but the top fights. Everything else you had to read about. Now you can see more of the fights from those allegedly greater years between those allegedly better fighters than you could find then and nearly every decent current fight is available live or shortly after it ends (thank you Beast).

In all honesty. I heard so many "back in 80 and 90 every year was better than 2017. So 20 + years were better than 2p17 but hardly anyone can tell me the exact year or years when they were better.

Just tell me 1 year that was better than..

Kovalev ward 2
Klitschko joshua
Brook spence
Thurman garcia
GGG canelo
GGG jacobs
Gonzales wangek
Breidis huck
Usyk hunter
Stevenson fonfara 2
Porter berto
Lomachenko sosa
Santa cruz frampton 2

With 6 month left. Now tell me a year clearly better than this one!
