Eggington fights for the European against champ Rodriguez this Saturday on the Yafai card, don't know anything about Rodriguez apart from that he's Spanish and has 1 loss on the slate

Still I would assume Eggington should be far too experienced for him and hopefully stop him, Sam isn't the most stylish of boxers but he's far surpassed anything that I thought he's achieve when I first seen him in Prizefighter years ago, went on to become British and Commonwealth champion and is one of the most improved fighters in the country, he's uber tough and has an excellent engine and carries a bit of a dig as well, the bodyshot to finish Malignaggi was class

Even since losing his titles to Skeete, Eggington's careers progressed with KOs over Gavin and Malignaggi and now a shot at the European meanwhile Skeete's getting ready to defend the British against Singleton who Sam KO'd a few years ago

The way Eggington's career's going I wouldn't rule out Eddie getting him a world title fight, maybe if Brook beats Spence and vacates or if Spence is looking for a safe first defence??

Either way you cant help but like Eggington he's old school and worked hard for everything he's achieved, he's learning on the job, always in great fights and will fight anyone

Really like Eggington. Still a young guy and has a refreshing attitude towards the game. I don't know much about the Spaniard tbh. I read the other day Malignaggi was supposed to fight him a while back and had studied up on him a bit so was helping Eggington with some advice etc that was good to see.

I can see Hearn trying to make the Gavin rematch if they both win on Saturday.

Ahh I didn't know that. I knew Gavin was trying to do 140 but I'm not sure how easy he's doing that? Is this fight on Sat at 140?

Think I remember him tweeting that it'd be at 143. Could be wrong though. And that might have changed given the change in opponent.

Eggington vastly improved. Deserves this crack at European. Malinaggi and Gavin wins put him fringe world level.
With Matchroom and Sky's pockets and Birmingham shows to fill I'd like a world title shot soon. Problem with Welter is theres no weak champions and none of them come cheap so expect a few European defences.

Definitely deserves his shot at the euro mate aye You could never deny a guy like that an opportunity. Fights anyone and not scared to take risks.

Then you've got wanks like Paul Smith who fight Latvian fodder then think they are entitled to endless world title shots.

To be fair Paul is world level

Just watched Rodriguez fight with El Mousaoui, good little fight, but thought he was more than a little fortunate to get the decision.

Saw nothing in that fight to suggest that the Savage will will have too much to worry about, he should have far too much for him on Saturday night.

I was surprised by Eggington I really thought Malignaggi would have too much for him even at this stage. I think he wins this one fairly comfortably and it would be nice to see a couple of decent defences before he steps up to challenge for a world title because he seems to be improving massively with every fight...

Oyf what a KO from Eggington, the guys a machine, he has got that Benn, Froch mentality where he gets hurt and is more dangerous, Rodriguez hurt him then Sam just nailed him and gave him a beating for the rest of the round, Rodriguez regrouped well and was picking and poking his way back into it but that KO Eggington got him with knocked him out cold, right uppercut, left hook x2

I'd love to see Eggington get someone like Adrien Broner. I'd pick him to win.

Hearn should try and get Peterson over for the WBA since he seems to have them in his pocket! I'd give Eggington a chance against him although Peterson would rightly be heavy favourite.

Broner or Berto are guys with name value that I'd favor Eggington against. Peterson would be a harder night out than either of them.

Yeah Peterson is a classy operator mate. He can be got to though. Hearn obviously has a 'special' relationship with the WBA so you never know lol.

I like Eggington proper rough house fighter suits his nickname be good to see him advance to a world title shot. He's still young and been in some great fights already
