What he's lining up for the summer or is he going to wait till later in the year?

Was hoping to get over if he fought this summer

I'd read he was supposed to be fighting at Windsor Park at the start of August. I assumed it was gonna be Lee Selby but God knows what's happening opponent wise. Valdez name has came up a few times as well. Hoping there'll be an announcement in the next couple of weeks.

Is the rubber match with Santa Cruz not happening then?

I think it will happen but probably next year. Can't see LSC coming to Belfast so Carl will no doubt have to go over there for it if he wants it.

McGuigan was on yesterday's Toe2Toe podcast and was asked about Frampton. I can't remember word for word what he said but it was something along the lines of he won't be fighting Santa Cruz next, been back in the gym for a few weeks now and they're hoping to have an opponent in the next few weeks with Carl preferring to fight in Belfast

Dragging their heels a bit. I know Selby has this mandatory situation with Barros to be sorted but with him being a free agent and all the crap that went on with Barros last time surely both parties could've came to an agreement. Frampton is an ex IBF champ himself so there should be a way round this if they talk to the right people surely?

As far as I know Selby vs Barros is a MUST - as the IBF have ordered it.

I believe they've already done the purse bid.

It's pretty ridiculous to maintain a mandatory after they fail a physical the day before the fight.

Who else is there? Do you think there's a chance Valdez comes over? I've read his name mentioned and him and his trainer both said they'll fight Frampton in Belfast no problem.

I don't know Stu, I really don't know that much about him or his team. But he does have a World title and that's what Carl will be looking for.

I don't know Stu, I really don't know that much about him or his team. But he does have a World title and that's what Carl will be looking for.

Just had a bit of a war with Marraigga so start of August may be a bit too soon. If he's got a clean bill of health and is injury free it should be ok but who knows with fighters these days. World champs only seem to fight 2/3 times a year now.

Jezreel Corrales for the WBA super featherweight world title.

Frampton now ranked #2 with the WBA at super featherweight and is no longer ranked by them at featherweight - suggests Team Frampton have asked for that in the hope they can get a shot or at least a final eliminator for Corrales this summer.

Unless it's a one off for the title it's not a smart move going up. I think Feather is Carl's limit tbh. The bigger fights are at FeatherWeight.

Obviously there's Loma at SFW and that could be a good payday but it's not a fight I'd favour Carl in. I'd give him a good chance against Rigo in Belfast at 126 if that can be made.

I agree with pretty much all of what you have said.

I think it will be a one off fight though, and he spoke about becoming a three weight world champion prior to the second Santa Cruz fight. There is also the the Panamanian / McGuigan connection to sell the fight even further. Should he win, the world is at his feet again - Santa Cruz at FW or SFW, Selby at FW, Quigg at FW, or maybe even risk a SFW unification with Berchelt / Davis / Walsh / Lomachenko with the view of then dropping back down to FW.
