We talk about 'era' in boxing all the time. Lets have a boxing time machine, and chuck a few prime boxers in it.

Take a fighter, and move him into another decade. How does he compete. Discuss.

I'll start with an obvious example. prime Calzaghi, to the 90's. Him & prime RJJ (albeit juiced to the gills) would have been great. Not to mentioned the prime Benn, Eubank & Collins fights.

I foam at the mouth at the thought of seeing Bobby Chacon in the mix with Erik Morales, Barrera, Marquez and Pacquiao.

Barrera and Morales in today's featherweight division would be excellent.

Unstoppable George Foreman in the time of Bowe, Holyfield, Lewis, etc. I mean prime grilled.

Roy beats joe fairly comfortably imo in that fight

Mayweathers not knocking Hearns out, and he's not even hurting him either. Those who beats Hearns (whilst he was still a force) did it through aggression. A guy with Hearns physical advantages doesn't get outboxed. Ray Leonard couldn't do it, and Leonard was bigger and stronger than Floyd, with a bigger punch and more naturally attacking. Ray Leonard couldn't out box tommy. He did it through getting rough and toughing it out, making it a scrap. Floyd hasn't got that in his locker

Stanley Ketchel in the early 80's. Fights against Hagler, Hearns, Roldan, Mugabi, Sibson etc etc would have been mouth watering.

When I think of a 'prime' Ali I think the year or two before his enforced absence. Ali was still great when he fought Frazier but past his prime in my humble opinion.

All the things you've mentioned are probably why it's right up the top of my list. I'd love to see how Mayweather would approach it. On paper Hearns is an absolute nightmare for him. And you didn't even have to mention probably the single best punch 147 has ever seen in The Hitman's right hand!

09 Pacman vs 09 Floyd was one of the biggest travesties in the history of boxing. The biggest fight never to happen. Think PacMan edges that one back then.

Amazing to think Duran had a 33 year pro career. He still does the round now during meet & greets. Surely he made enough from over 100 fights to taker it easy.

The greatest of all time, and Muhammad Ali, together in the ring in front of 90,000 at Wembley with AJ blasting out Ali with some of his hardcore blaster punches while the crowd roar the young lion to victory in the first round, the pangs of Sweet Caroline still in everyone's mind. A victory for all of Great Britain, keeping Britain both great, and humble.
