Jim Neilly needs a medal.

He speaks hs mind on air. The middleweight Marian Simion was robbed. Thank god that someone has done that.

Might I also add that Andre Dirrell will win gold for USA. Talented as hell.

Reckon he's taken a leaf out of Teddy Atlas' book. I was right with him & his protestations regarding Augustus, Teddy's the Man.

I think Jim Neilly has done a good job. He seems really prepared and seems to be calling them well.

However, this could be because I don't know a lot about the amateur game so he seems a lot more on the ball. Fair play to him though. As I've said before, commentating is one of those jobs that is much harder than it looks.

Richie and Jim seem to make a good team.

That was a terrible rip off by the judges, Simion was out right robbed.
The poor guy had to land about 4 shots to get a point, and the Egyptian just had to flap his arm out to earn a few points.
Blatant as hell - those judges need to be lined up.

Dirrell looks a sure bet for gold - amazing hand speed and big punch too. Looks a pro already & almost reminds you of a young Ray Leonard in 76.

Steve H was tipping Simion for Middleweight gold, he has an even better brother...or he may the better brother I forget...anyway i missed the robbery but judging by the scoring do far there was always likely to be a high profile casualty.

I think Neilly feels no pressure because he knows boxing is not going out on the mother channel. The BBC are sticking the minority sports on BBCi and keeping them there. I really hope Amir Khan forces their hand in the same way Audley did in 2000. It kills BBC suits when when they have to screen boxing mainstream. They interviewed Khan's father on BBC2 after the big win yesterday and couldn't wait to get rid of him.

Richie Woodhall wasn't too keen on getting rid of him, he was kissing his arse and putting his arm around him I've never seen Richie so happy.

yeah exactly...if Niely tells me so and so won a world silver...i believe it straight away cos i know close to fornicate all about amateur boxing. But for all i know he could be getting his facts wrong, like he has done when calling professional fights.

How bad was the robbery? Were they just not scoring the ther guys punches? I saw that Egyptian celebrating afterwards...boy did he milk it. Niely said it's the worst robbery in the sport he's seen since Roy Jones in 88'.

Is Dirrell the guy who Boxing Talk had a video of schooling Abdulaev in sparring?

Yep, BBC are bastards. They only showed the last round of Amirs win over the european champion on the highlights last night. :x

I heard in the evening session on BBC digital that the Romanians have lodged an appeal re Simion's robbery. Unfortunately nuffin will come of it I feel. Has anyone ever known a decision to be reversed in the Olympics?

The BBC are really testing my limits tonight as less than half way through the Lt fly bouts they've switched to frigging hockey. I am going to be so pissed if it goes on and they don't show the middle weights later. It's adding insult to injury as I freelance for those tommy tankers and they aint paid me for my last job yet.

By the time all the pen pushing, red tape and beauocracy involved in an appeal has subsided the next Olympics will be coming round
