I can find no reference to his passing anywhere so I assume he must still be alive he was born in 1922 so that would make him around 82 years old.

Numerous Hall of Fame alumni and world champions attended the weekend festivities. They included Hall-of-Famers Joe Frazier, Floyd Patterson, Jose Torres, Bob Foster, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Willie Pep, Gene Fullmer, Carmen Basilio, Emile Griffith, Aaron Pryor, Alexis Arguello, Carlos Ortiz, Ruben Olivares, Michael Spinks, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Emanuel Steward, Gil Clancy, Lou Duva and Arthur Mercante.
There is a refence here to him attending the 1999 International Boxing Hall of Fame induction weekend, so if he has since died it would have to have been sometime in the last five years.

last time i saw Pep in person was 5 years ago. He was being a grouchy old prick, which is a bit of a compliment. His decline has increased greatly in the last couple of years.

I think I am right in saying that as well as having about 242 recorded fights he has also been married about 5 times!
The guy has certainly lived a hectic life.

...whenever he discussed his financial situation, willie said , "my trouble was always slow horses and fast women."

I'm sure it was also Pep who said
"First you lose your legs, then you lose your friends"
