Iranian boxer Salman Karimi has tested positive for drugs and has been banned for two years, according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
Karimi pulled out of the Athens Games citing a broken hand, but the Iranian Boxing Federation's disciplinary committee did not accept his excuse.

It ordered the boxer to take a drugs test and subsequently suspended him when the results became known.

Karimi had qualified to compete in the 69kg division at the Olympics.

Fair play to the Irainian boxing federation - look how the Greek association tried to get Kanteris and Thanou out of a banning by telling them to pull out and the IOC had no choice but to cancel any futher action. The Irainian boxing federation have done the opposite and exposed the cheat for what he is, and I can't imagine there are that many decent Iranian boxers.
