I suppose it's hard to tell how good Yarde is until someone serious trys to hit him back but to the layman his power and speed look like they'd cause Clev a problem or two.

I've said before I can't understand how he's been matched so soft. And now I can't understand why they're not matching him with an English champ over the WBO European title. It's all confusing.

I wonder how good his power really is.....the opposition has been very weak, and I imagine that Clev would be getting a lot of stoppages at that level too. Plus, if bulky Yarde is taken rounds, how will his stamina hold up? We know Clev has a good engine and solid durability, so it seems a real possibility that Yarde would have to prove himself on this front.

Significantly tougher matchmaking would give a better idea of where Yarde's at; the opposition has been so bad that Hobbs was arguably the best he's faced.

Hard to say what Clev has left. He's fit as they come and has a right good beard, can box a bit but likes to play the macho man too much. I'm a fan and have been for a long time. I got a bit carried away with him initially though! Calzaghe had either packed it in or was on his road out and Cleverly slipped in to that void in my mind (being a massive Calzaghe fan). Couldn't have been more wrong but he's proved he's a competent fighter. He took on some tough fights as a young prospect himself. Tony Oakey was a tough one and announced him as a talent and one to watch.

I'm not even sure who he's training with nowadays man. I thought after the second Bellew fight he was done. No hunger, didn't seem bothered in an apparent 'grudge match'. Has came back and has looked OK. Showed heart against Fonfara and was game and better prepared against Braehmer although I thought he was behind when the fight was stopped. Braehmer seemed to be handling him early.

Yarde v Clev is a good fight but I doubt it's one we'll ever see.

Looking at the UK ratings Burton or Buglioni look like attractive matchups for him.

Was thinking just the same that he will be retired well before Yarde is at that level .

Like the look of Yarde tho' , for somebody that's only had so little am and pro experience , he's got real class.

I think Clev might have gone to the well once too often. I could see him getting a prolonged beating and /or a brutal KO if he's matched badly. I'm not sure if Yarde is the man to do it but I'd be happy if Clev retired to be honest.

Didn't he say he'd only had about 25 fight in both ams and pro's ?

not really suprising they are not matching at a higher level yet .

I was kind of looking forward to the Jack fight personally. I think Jack is pretty underrated and has solid skills. Nothing special but solid fundamentals and fit as fornicate. Think he beats Clev but if they're both in shape it could be a bit of a war.

The way Jack fights Clev would no doubt have his moments. As you stated though, he's defo got involved far too much even when he doesn't need to. Trying to prove he's a puncher/tough guy! Maybe fight Jack, see what's left and go from there. Probably retirement.

No basis to say that Yarde would stop Clev imo. Cleverly has several world ranked fighters and won his fair share, Yarde looks like a very good prospect but hasn't fought above Area Level.

I know this all seems premature and like we jumping the gun even comparing them yet, but there's something about the way he goes about his work. Spiteful, yet composed enough to pick his shots. Decent output, without rushing his work. I think he could stop cleverly, but realistically he needs to progress at a slower rate. Can't wait to see how he progresses.

Too early for Yarde. If they fought tomorrow I see Yarde gassing and Clev stopping him late.

With Yarde starting to get a big profile he will be stepped up for commercial reasons.
His next fight is a huge step up from Hobbs.

As a few people have said it does seem premature to even consider the possibility that Yarde beats Clev but Clev has been a severely diminished fighter ever since Kovalev rode into Cardiff and beat the living daylights out of him.

If you ignore the Braehmer "win" then it's a long long time since Clev's beaten anybody decent. The way he just stands in front of you firing off tippy tappy punches I think he's made for Yarde who could possibly just walk right through him.

No, not at this time.

Based on his win on Saturday, he might scrape into the lower part of the domestic top ten. He's being matched really softly (including his next opponent) and should be looking at the likes of McIntyre, Shinkwin and Spelman in the near future.
