No PPV King Potential Takeover In Sight!

This is the 1st time I've actually seen it like this, no potential ppv super star to take over boxing. We had Ray Leonard, Tyson, De La Hoya, May-
weather, now who? Its bad right now. Lots of great talent but none of them are mainstream superstar PPV King potential.

Terrance Crawford looks the business not sure about that crossover PPV star appeal though.

His ppv buys in one fight were horrendous. Something like 60k buys.

Because he hadn't got there yet. You can't force a guy into the role of PPV star. Floyd Mayweather's PPV's didn't sell worth a sh*t either until he beat DLH. You gotta beat a Superstar to be a Superstar, either that or you just gotta be must-see TV like Tyson or something.

Canelo is the ppv king, silly.

Retiring Pacquiao certainly wouldn't hurt his star appeal.

If he was gonna be a PPV king his fight with Wlad would've been a good place to start. It would've sold jack sh*t over here which is why it wasn't a PPV.

He'll never be a ppv draw. As for Floyd 300-400 k isn't bad.

Yep. All the Welterweights need Pacquiao to get that name recognition boost. That's why that's the name that all the guys like Thurman and all them keep calling for. They want his starpower, and beating him is the closest they can ever come to getting it.

I agree to an extent but Golovkin still done a good 90k buys more, fighting against the likes of Lemieux.

PAC doesn't sell huge anymore. No passing of the torch there. PAC/bud would do numbers that you just described as not selling worth a shiit..

Because people had heard of Lemieux. Nobody except the super hardcore fans had any clue who the f*ck Viktor Postol was....Terence Crawford isn't a name outside of Boxing circles either.
Go ahead and ask any friends you know tomorrow who Terence Crawford is. Unless they watch Boxing, they have no clue who he is.
The guys that become big PPV stars, everybody knows them whether they watch the sport or not. Crawford isn't that guy. Probably never will be.

I know it wouldn't be huge, but he'd attract more attention to the fight than any other name at the moment. A potential Spence vs Thurman matchup would definitely be bigger if one of them went through Pac first.
Frankly I don't think there's anything that's gonna make another big PPV star in the sport anymore. The prices for these PPV's keep getting more and more ridiculous and they still sell you BS fights that don't belong on PPV. Most people have gotten wise to it.
I doubt there's any PPV stars coming from North America anymore that aren't drawing very strongly from the Latino fan base.

What did he do for Bradley and Vargas?

You'd be out for many hours looking for someone that has never heard of Crawford but knew anything about lemieux other than he fought ggg. How was he known?

300-400, don't remember exactly. Canelo is the man now. Nobody else.

Lemieux is hardly a huge name though. I'd argue that Golovkin is hardly a name outside of boxing circles either.

You think GGG becomes an attraction if he beats Canelo? Or would he still not be the star Canelo is? I kinda figure he's still not got the starpower of a Canelo, but if it's a great fight maybe they have a rematch and he at least gets that other Mega Payday out of the whole deal. I mean I'm sure GGG's starpower would rise off of beating Canelo, but I don't know how much further it could go really.

There's a difference between not being huge and being shit. Crawford would school Manny something fierce, I strongly doubt that nobody would buy Crawford/indongo afterwards.

Hell for that matter Canelo isn't a big name outside of Boxing circles. If you don't watch Boxing you know Canelo because he's in that Tecate commercial with Sylvester Stallone, and you probably are saying "Who the f*ck is that red headed guy standing next to Stallone?"

No, he won't.
I could argue he already has, he broke the Sky Box Office record of 1.5 million buys in the UK.
Oh, he's huge worldwide. It would be tough for you to argue this thread is not about the USA ppv.
