Anyone else think Fonfara has the chance of an upset vs the overrated pimp?

This being the only reply... i think it's fair to say the pimp's Haymon-led career path has turned him into an irrelevance.

There is definitely a chance (25%) of an upset.
I think Gvozdyk, Barrera or Beterbiev would have a better chance (50% or higher) against Stevenson though.

I would say 25% is perhaps conservative. Do we believe Fonfara has improved & Stevenson regressed, since the first bout? I don't remember the first fight well (i might rewatch if i can find it on youtube) but those cards aren't exactly suggesting a shutout.

Not Barrera.

Adonis is getting up there, but Fonfara hasnt exactly been looking good lately.
Even if you take the Smith loss as a fluke, Fonfara was losing deep into his subsequent fight with shopworn Chad. He also looked gun-shy at times, which isnt a good sign for a fighter who relies on grinding down opponents.

Dawson's chin is missing, not his boxing skills.

Chad definitely isn't as sharp as he used to be. Stevenson took just a minute to connect with the big finishing left (chin+defensive issue), and Tommy Karpency was right there with him in a boxing match, regularly making him miss, landing counters, and actually winning! He's easier to hit and doesn't pull the trigger nearly as well as used to, which is hardly rare for a soon to be 35-year-old who turned pro 16 years ago.
Further, Chad has never been a serious puncher, but Fonfara looked reluctant to move his hands, as if the Smith fight were on his mind. Fonfara had also just moved to the defensively focused Hunter, and perhaps that was a factor...
So, in my view Fonfara has a realistic chance, but his form of late hasn't inspired a great deal of confidence, and the fight being made now leads me to think that Stevenson's side agrees

I think Fonfara gets knocked out.

Good points.
Chad is a sad case, really. He was never the same after making the fatal error of draining down to meet SOGgy. I think that a similar fate awaits Brook going forward.
I will admit that it sets up to be a ko victory for Stevenson on paper, but I don't think that Fonfara has looked bad since the first Stevenson battle. Even the Smith loss was not a beatdown.
Fonfara is what he is - competitive. He definitely has a chance here to catch the long in the tooth champion cold or just outbox him to a decision. Stevenson is at the age where he may well have receded to Fonfara's level.
I hope so. I would love to see him beat Stevenson clean out of boxing culminating in a late ktfo.

Unless Stevenson aged beyond belief he will box Fonfaras head off, just like in the first fight.

Stevenson looked very soft on the scales. Maybe he did age enough.

I think that this could end early either way, and that the odds are it does not go the distance.

That didn't take long. Quickest 180 of all time.
Eh, Fonfara had his chance and blew it in the first fight. I doubt he manages a thing here. Aducknis by mid round stoppage or he can simply coast to a UD.

If Adonis is out of shape it could be a big problem for him. He always had a questionable stamina and Fonfara isnt a guy you want to gas out against. Pressure fighter with power, he will knock Chickenson ass out if he is empty in late rounds. Otherwise I expect Stevenson wide points win.

I will go with Fonfara in this one ... hey ... i have a 50/50 chance of being right . Adonis older and hasn't fought anyone as tough as Fonfara for years . Fonfara has to use the jab alot and let Adonis come to him . go for the TKO in the later half of the fight when the older man is tired

I'm rooting for Fonfara, but I think his chin has eroded. Stevenson will always have his power. I think Stevenson by KO, but I really hope I'm wrong. I'm 3-0 this weekend in my picks so far: Alvarez, Kudryashov, and Meyothin all won.

I really dislike Chickenson. I just want to see someone turn out his lights. Am I the only one that finds it nauseating that he wears the Kronk colours?
