I understand a bit, but depression doesn't do money. Plenty of rich people kill themselves and suffer.

Ive been to an evening with Ricky Hatton. Was really good night, he was a good speaker etc and had some great stories to tell.

Didn't realise he split from his Mrs

Depression is a funny thing. From outside looking in, with his success, money, popularity you think what is there to be depressed about. But it really doesn't work like that.

I think there's a lot of people that label themselves depressed and it's all a bit of a joke and fake, but genuine cases are really quite sad

Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Anything can trigger it. It doesn't matter what your bank balance is.

Pumping hookers every night would get boring after a few weeks I reckon. I'd probably do that much Coke I'd go impotent and end up with a Westbrook beak!

Mental illness induced suicides are one of the major causes of death for the 40-55 male demographic, and there is no correlation to income.

Is there not ? I'm guessing here but I'd have thought that a major factor in depression for 40-55 yr olds would be the realization "shit I'm never gonna be a success career wise" which can often be measured by income.

Suicide is criminally under-reported, and help is often hard to find. Men are especially bad, with it being the biggest killer in young males, largely due to the fact that they don't seek help.

I expect a lot of people on this forum will have been affected by suicide to some extent, and if people saw it in the same light as a physical illness then it would not have the same taboo feel to it, and therefore sufferers would be more likely to seek help.

A coroners verdict of suicide immediately vitiates the deceased's life insurance - hence a multitude of "Open Verdicts", from coroners. I'm nowhere near that form of self-destruction, but I've heard many people in my environment talk about making sure, if they did something stupid, said policy will pay out.

Anyway, back to boxing

I've had cash, blew it, was never any happier then. I honestly think I was probably more miserable. Cash means nothing when you feel that down.

Same here roy,a good few ppl from the town i grew up have done themselves in and its all men early to mid 20's

I read Eubank's autobiography, it was a good read. Anyway, he said pretty much the same thing about money. He said when you don't have it, you want it. Then you get rich and find yourself facing loads of new problems.

I've not got much now... But some of the happiest days of my life were when I'd got a £20 loan from a pal or something. Great days when you had nothing.

I'm not nice to be around and I isolate myself when I'm feeling down. I drink once a week usually and do a bit of Coke. It definitely doesn't help but I feel I need a release once a week usually.

Sometimes I'll be without a care, no extra stress, quite happy and no specific reason not to be but all of a sudden I'll just get dragged down and can't shake it. When you try and articulate the symptoms to your doctor it sounds mental and you feel as if you're being daft. It's fuckin horrible sometimes I've got to say.

That's a shame mate, I get low moods all the time but I stay away from booze even though I'm not one for drinking much, I've not had any wiff for ages but that's cos I don't go out with my mates cos there all bang into it, but to be honest every fuker is nowadays. If I drink I seem to go worse with my moods
