WHO WINS? Jamie McDonnell vs. Paul Butler

if the fight was made today, who wins?
Bang on the WBA mandated that. But they do what they want anyway. They mandated Warren and McDonnell last year, Warren turned it down they did nothing.Horse wrote:I don't rate Butler. I think that McDonnell would win easily.
McDonnell should be fighting better opposition than this.
What happened to the Solis rematch?
Really? What difference do you see Gallagher making to the outcome?Naandrew wrote:I'm being honest Joe Gallagher training Butler makes McDonnell a significant favourite.
Without Gallagher I think McDonnell would still be favourite but not as wide. McDonnell is on the slide.
That Stuart Hall fight was close as well. That's his only decent win and its 3 years ago.Stuarty30 wrote:McDonnell I reckon. Always thought Butler was massively overrated. The lads on BN go right over the score praising him at times.
Constantly loses at good level plus he is on a BAD run.Boxerbeetle wrote:Really? What difference do you see Gallagher making to the outcome?Naandrew wrote:I'm being honest Joe Gallagher training Butler makes McDonnell a significant favourite.

It was good when Tete took him to schoolNaandrew wrote:That Stuart Hall fight was close as well. That's his only decent win and its 3 years ago.Stuarty30 wrote:McDonnell I reckon. Always thought Butler was massively overrated. The lads on BN go right over the score praising him at times.

I thought he lost both fights with Kameda, and the Solis fight. He lost 3 fights in a row and got the decision all 3 times, so I definitely am not a fan as I can't get behind fighters who need help to win their fights. He won't need any help to beat Butler though.Naandrew wrote:gilgamesh wrote:In response to Naandrew ^ On the slide? He just came onto the world scene a few years ago. I've been a fan for ages but Solis pushed him back far too easily. I don't think he would have struggled with Solis as much 2 years ago. Maybe on the slide is a bit far but he is not as good as he was based on that. In activity won't help him. I still think he should beat Butler.
He definitely lost the Solis fight. The first Kameda fight could have gone either way. I thought he won that rematch comfortably. I think he got a very lucky decision over Napa years ago didn't he ???
Fair enough I'm the same opinions vary a lot with that Kameda rematch. Some Americans in the broadcast had Kameda wide which was mental to me. I had him 8-4 I think.gilgamesh wrote:I thought he lost both fights with Kameda, and the Solis fight. Its going to be made soon as per Eddie's recent IFL interview.wesshaw1985 wrote:if the fight was made today, who wins?
Ditching Hobson and signing with Eddie was when I started to dislike him. No loyaltyTaansend wrote:I don't get the level of dislike for Jamie on here
I don't think he'd have multiple losses at all. He paced the fights well and puts in very strong finishes. And that includes Ceja, Hall and the two with Kameda in America - a superb run only a very good fighter would be capable of.gilgamesh wrote:In response to Naandrew ^ On the slide? Fighters have short careers and they're the ones getting punched in the face. You go where the best money is, nobody owes anybody a living least of all a promoter.Boxerbeetle wrote:Ditching Hobson and signing with Eddie was when I started to dislike him. True, but there's ways to go about it properly.CaptainSpacerod wrote:Fighters have short careers and they're the ones getting punched in the face. I had McDonnell winning the late rounds to edge the fight with Solis; my concern is he didn't win them as decisively as usual and barely scraped by IMO. Think he had a bad night, with the cuts, and was it a nosebleed as well ? and perhaps didn't take the opponent - a former super flyweight champion who dropped bantam king Yamanaka several times in defeat - seriously enough.
I'm very impatient for the Solis rematch but would be happy to see him beat the Hatton fighter and settle the WBA split title mess.
