Who Pays The Official's Expenses?

At one time I think I'm right in saying that the promoter picked up the expenses for any international referees, judges and supervisors that required hotel rooms etc, does anyone know if this is still the case?

I'd have thought it was up to the promoter to put them up and subsidise travel etc... As far as wages are concerned then surely that's down to whatever governing body is supplying the officials?

The promoter pays all the fees and expenses of all governing bodies including BBBofC officials and appointed doctors.

Apart from area representatives and inspectors who receive expenses only which are scrutinised and paid by the board

Seems like a decent job - free travel, top hotel, free food and drink, prozzies on tap, what's not to like?

That's exactly what worries me. Just seems a little fishy when the governing body gets a sanctioning fee as well, surely they should be taking care of it?
But then the sanctioning bodies are so bent that I guess it's the same issue whoever picks up the tab. Thanks for the replies.

Wasn't there a story a while back about officials arriving at their swanky hotels and there being a gift basket with iPads and stuff in gifted "from the hotel".
The hotel would also have a list of restaurants to rattle off in case they were asked for somewhere good to go, all of which were paid off by the promoter to treat them like a celebrity, eat for free etc.
And of course random attractive ladies hitting on them all night, in no way paid to do so by the promoter?
I believe one official got so used to that life he'd score badly against home fighters because all the above didn't get laid on for him.
All game playing!
