I'm talking about Daddy Eubank, not Junior.

At first the answer is obvious to me...Eubank. But I'm biased as I was a big fan of his from the off & even remember reading about him in the little overseas section of Boxing News when he was still fighting in Atlantic City.

But their records are remarkably similar in some ways.

Eubank has a record of 45(23)-5(1)-2 while Abraham, at the moment, is 46(30)-5(1)-0.

Eubank was involved in 24 World title fights, Abraham in 23.

Both won titles at Middleweight (where they were undefeated), then moved up to Supermiddleweight & won titles.

Both had their share of close (dodgy?) decisions going their way.

Both as tough as old boots

As I said, to me the answer is Eubank but I was wondering how biased I am (although this being a British/Irish board you lot might be as well)

And who do you think would win in a fight between a prime Eubank & a prime Abraham (neutral location)?

I voted eubank clearly. The wins over Benn and Watson were straight out the top drawer. I don't really see too much that Abraham has done to match them.

If they were to fight I'd pick eubank. I think the way to beat him was a high energy and output performance. Eubank liked to fight at a modest pace and dictate that steady tempo. Abraham doesn't do that for me. He has really strong burst during rounds, but Steve Collins for example keep his foot down much more.

Eubank would hustle a decision imo

Abraham easy for better career for me.

He has some decent wins.

But at least he fought the best and has ducked NO ONE. It is a shame him and Sturm didn't fight though.....

I think Abraham would win at middle, he was pretty unstoppable at that weight. Possibly Chris would win at super middle.

Eubank by quite some distance for me. Never been overly impressed with Abraham, and he's lost virtually every time he's stepped up a level.

I know Eubank didn't fight a load of people he should have done, but his big wins are still far better than Abraham's imo. His losses were also more impressive - he was never ever dominated like Abraham was against Froch or Ward, even when he fought Calzaghe straight after coming out of retirement.

Is senior in the HOf if so anyone picking Abraham says he deserves to be in the HOF too right?

I think he's said himself he wouldn't go near Tony and Graham, also Roy Jones.

It is, for different reasons. He United a nation at a very traumatic time. Barry was the man. "Leave the fighting to McGuigan" was one of the best books I read. Shame he turned out to be a bit of a prick in later life.

I think Kelly Pavlik would have stopped Abraham at middleweight. Abraham's opponents at the weight were mostly quite poor. Sergio Martinez would also have beaten him. Possibly also Jermain Taylor, before the first Pavlik fight. Paul Williams would also have beaten him.

Always thought Eubank was over rated - just ducked most of the top fighters and got lucky deceisons in several fights

Don't think Eubank cared about pitting himself against the cream of the divisions he competed in, his priority was making money and lots of it to secure his future and he did it very well being a natural at the media stuff, so while he did have his defining moments in the ring he was happier gracing red carpets and the front pages rather than chasing down the titans.

It is, for different reasons. He United a nation at a very traumatic time. Barry was the man. "Leave the fighting to McGuigan" was one of the best books I read. Shame he turned out to be a bit of a prick in later life.

I know all about what was happening outside the ring but his boxing career is nowhere near hall of fame worthy

I always felt - and still do - that we never saw the best of Eubank. The Watson event changed his style and he was pulling his punches from then on.

Aye, although he didn't seem to pull his shots so much in some fights, for example those two fights he had before rematching Collins, or against Jarvis.

Abraham is a warrior ,he is not on the same level . age now is on eubanks jr side,and ebjr should win , but he will have to go on and fight all the best in the division before he could be compared to a fighter as good as Abraham

Admittedly Eubank was before my time. But what I have read about him he had no interest in fighting the best. I read a book about him and Benn ( Hate Game I think it is called)

He publically ducked Herol Graham as he couldn't hit him.

Clearly petrified of Toney on Jonathan Ross

He also would specifically not fight southpaws and anyone over 6ft 1 ruling out Nunn.

Also wanted no part of Mike McCallun after he schooled Watson. Also Barry Hearn was moaning about that no money etc ( apple doesn't fall far from the tree )

He said he never ducked fighters of that calibre because they were not no 1 in the wbo so he was never obliged to fight them.

It's true eubank had better fighters around his time than Abraham and missed them, but he still beat better guys than Abraham. Whose AA beaten that's better than Benn?

Also it wasn't just eubank, none of those British 160-168ers fought the Americans and vice Versa. With the exception of Watson getting beat by the exceptional mccallum.
