You reckon he'll say no thanks and go back to £200 a week for the next four years? Or grab the chance to be a millionare in four years time, where he can watch the Beijing Olympics from his yacht instead?

It's often siad that if you turn pro after winning an olympic gold, for your career to be on track you need to be challenging for a world title by the time the next olympic games comes round, and 21 seems very young to be challenging for world titles. But then I suppose if your good enough your old enough....

i might take a stroll to the bookies over the next couple of days, see what the potential odds might be on khan winning gold this year then retaining next time round. might be worth a wee investment.

Neil - I think your right. Firstly, I still don't think he will win gold although I'd bet my mortgage on the silver, secondly, he is clearly well-adjusted and comes from a family of decent people who love their boy for what he is and don't see him as a meal ticket.

Still, if I am wrong I would back him to win a big four belt at 140/147 (wherever he fills out at) within 4 years.

I saw his fight here in the U.S, i dont know what to think.Is he an agressive fighter, does he use the jab, does he have an unordothox style?

Aaron Pryor, Ricky Hatton or Duran for example are pressure fighters. This is from the 3 fights that ive seen of him ever, he was always in Stilianovs and the Greeks faces hammering them with punches, he did stay outside box a bit against the Korean who came out and tried to rush him so he's seems to have a lot in his locker. Not one dimensional at all.

Amateur Boxing has its flaws but do you know what is great about it ?
Assuming there's no upsets in the semi finals Amir will face the great man himself -- Kindelan -- in the final . We'll know if he's number 1 or not .
Now if this was Pro Boxing as it is nowadays we'd hear 'Kindelan wants too much money , the fights fallen through' and Amir would be fighting some guy who didn't even get through the qualifiers for the 'Olympic Boxing Union' title !!

Lets hope Warren doesnt get his mits on him, this kid could be something really special I'd hate to see his career going down the toilet like hatton and calzaghe. Having said that I think he has the potential to be a lot better than both of them.

True. I was wondering recently what it would be like if the Pros were allowed to fight in the Olympics and were forced to by the boxing boards. It would be unbelievable, especially if they still faught 4 rounders, most guys would just be throwing rights hoping for a KO. All the best guys versus all the other best guys, you'd really know who's Number 1.

We can only dream of course.

If Warren did sign Khan it wouldn't have to mean that the kid goes down the WBU route. Khan surely has more potential than any of the guys Warren has "nursed" to date, if he's good enough to beat the other champs then I'm sure he'll get the big fights.

Ricky Hatton is a long reigning WBU champ for a reason. Good enough to challenge the real champs? Sure. Good enough to dethrone them? Realistically no.

Naaaaahhhhh. Franks way too nice a guy to pull a stunt like that. I challenge you tell me when he has ever done that....

If the kid does win the gold , I would think he would have the big fish from the big pool wanting to sign him, The yanks know how to do it proper and he could end up emensly wealthy.

On the other hand he could sign up with the wanker and end up 50-0 and not even been hit back and considerably wealthy, so what its gonna boil down to , Is the kid PROUD, does the kid want to be WORLD CHAMP.

Or is he similar to Hatton and Calagzie, don't care about being champ, just the money for no risk
