anyone know who first boxer was to have a chosen entrance music (so not generic Mexican guitars etc...)
Also first to do it in U.K.??
Someone suggested to me it was after Rocky (which would be mid/late 70s)?

A lot of it is a massive bollocks. I only choose one song in a long career. Cigarettes and alcohol in my last. I mean. The boy I train and manage had a rapper rapping him in. In a four rounder in tolworth. Jesus wept

Ali came in to a jazz version of 'When the Saints Go Marching In' for the Spinks rematch in New Orleans. That's the earliest example I can recall.

Tijuana1 used to come in to "here I go again on my own", it was more a dig at people not supporting him. I should have sung it, I was on my own at most fights with him!

I hate all that.
I mean, I don't really care whether a guy wants to play music when he walks to the ring. But some of them are prannying around for what seems like hours pre-fight. When you get people have bands that they are friends with play them in.
If I wanted to see that, I'd watch Strictly Come Dancing. Get one with the actual boxing.

"Real gone kid", by Deacon Blue is a great choice, those Scouse guys hold the band in a lot higher regard than the rest of the world.

Are kid always used to deliberate for weeks what song he Used to walk out to .
He's always been into music and it was an important part of his preparation as it would get his adrenaline pumping.
Here's one of his choices and my personal favourite

Agreed with that Mickey . I've always thought what a wet wank of entrance toon that is even though I like the band .
It just ain't suited to boxing ,you need something with a bit of bollox .

Paul has Real Gone Kid, Derry had Dignity and Callum has Wages Day, all by Deacon Blue.
Can't Stop by RHCP is good for Wlad's entrance. Brook's is good as well.
My favourite is still Lennox coming out to Crazy Baldheads for the Tyson fight.

I know we have in jokes about the Scouse nation, but can anyone actually explain why Deacon Blue are so popular over there? There neck and neck with The Beatles from what I can gather.

I didn't realise they where not big outside of Liverpool and Glasgow? they normally play arenas when they tour and that got some quality tunes, Martin Murray also used Dignity in his last fight

I'm from the Scouse Nation

but I can honestly say I have no idea why Deacon Blue are so popular here... but they just are. Any party, wedding, pub or club you go to round here Real Gone Kid and Dignity seem to be the go-to tunes. And they always go down a treat
