Not totally. I think it will still do well financially.

A couple million buys are going to come from people that aren't particularly a fan of mma or boxing.

The popularity of the sport of boxing in America seems to be on the decline (at least from a commercial perspective).

Whilst the Mayweather-McGregor crossover bout is a gimmicky circus event, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it could somehow jump start and rejuvenate the sport in the US, if it manages to entertain.

Of course, it's entirely possible that it could cause permanent harm, to the point it bangs in the final nail in the sports' coffin, but this is not a certainty.

So I think we should all refrain judgement until we know for certain the consequences of the Mayweather-McGregor circus show.
