Featherweight “People’s Champion” Manny Pacquiao (38-2-2, 30 KO's) will clash with WBC super featherweight champion Erik “El Terrible” Morales, (47-1, 34 KO's) “The Last Man Standing” in the Filipino southpaw’s announced desire to burn through Mexico in what promises to be a battle of ultimate warriors. Pacquiao’s business manager Rod Nazario announced that promoters Murad Muhammad and Bob Arum had a done deal and indicated the site for the title fight would be either Las Vegas or California

Pacquaio is gonna get whacked. Morales is a lot nearer his peak than Barrera and has the power from range to give Pacquaio hell. I think Pacquaio could get stopped this time, late on.

Pac deserves a lot of credit, but he'll get beaten soundly.

This is great news, should be a quality fight, respect to Pacman for stepping up to take on Morales and respect to Morales for taking on another tough and hungry World class fighter.

I go for Morales to box and fight his way to a points win.

I would absolutely astounded if the limited and one dimensional Pacman comes even close to beating Morales.

Pac is one hell of an over-rated fight much like Mayorga.

As you've all said, credit to both guys for wanting the fight. I feel for Pacquiao if this fight happens though. The blueprint to beat him has already been laid, and Morales is bigger, and better (in every department) than Marquez. If Morales isn't caught cold he'll stop Manny fairly comfortably i think.

Kind of gutted because I would like to see Marquez and Pacquiao finish their battle. However, how can I be gutted at this fight. Fantastic, but I can see a fairly one sided points win for Morales.

This is no easy fight at all for Morales, Manny strikes very hard and fast with that left hand and is very fit and aggressive. He didn't just beat Barrera, he utterly dominated him, Barrera was rated about No.3 P4P when they fought. Marquez knew about Pacmans left hand but when he got in the ring he got shocked by just how hard and fast it was. It sickens me you guys saying how one dimensional he is, what does it matter if that one dimension is so damn good that very few fighters in the world can deal with it? One of the reasons Manny looked so one dimensional against JMM was because of the incredible success he had early with his one-two, he spend the rest of the night looking for the same punches and the same success thus everyone thinks thats all he can do.

Erik has never been hard to hit, say Erik is his usual macho self in the fight and goes to war with the faster fighter but then gets tagged on the chin with one of those left hands, not many guys will be able to take that punch for long no matter how good their chin.

I expect Morales to beat Pacquiao, but if Morales takes the fight and then lines up someone like Marquez then i can see a serious Hall Of Fame claimant emerging. The guy is not afraid to fight ANYONE, he is a credit to the sport and this live Featherweight division puts the blubbering Heavyweights to shame.

Doesn't this kind of fight really put the likes of Hatton/Calzaghe into perspective?

I apologise for sullying a thread about two such great warriors but it does urinate me off. These guys are real world champions as are likes of Barerra/Corrales/Freitas/Casamayor e.t.c and they regularly get it on...

I think boxing is really peeing me off at the moment, it's not been a good year.

I'll go for EL Terrible to stop Manny mid to late rounds....

I agree totally with you Goz, matchups like Morales-Pacquiao really put into perspective the poor matchmaking and inadequate title defences made by our boys

Barrera's style is such that I think that even in his prime he would have struggled with

Morales however is a different kettle of fish, he's a bigger rangier fighter, and carries a real dig and a vicious streak. He's meaner than Barrera, and appears to be hungrier than Barrera at this stage of their careers. Morales hasn't gone all hollywood like Barrera did before the Pacman fight.

Pacman of course has fantastic power, however, he has shown that he is unable to adapt when a fight goes against him. Despite a great first round against Marquez he needed a plan B to win the fight, and he clearly didn't have one.
