Why some people dislike Povetkin? I was upset that he couldn't drag Wilder in the ring.

TBH I don't bite those b.s with ped using. I rate Povetkin as a legit HW and he should've been already a champion. I hope he will get some title shots soon.

Some of them (the minority) dislike/hate him because of his style, the rest (the majority) dislike/hate him because of racism/nationalism/chauvinism. It is not only Povetkin's case, unfortunately this could be said for all (or almost all) boxers.

Sadly the American media spreads loads of lies around him and some dumb people actually believe those lies. On top of that he should have faced Deontay Wilder, a coward, living in America, who did everything he could to avoid that fight, including spreading lies. Sadly a lot of Wilder fans are dumb, and do, or did genuinly think Povetkin did something that wasn't allowed. In reality, of all guys involved, only Stiverne and Deontay got busted with drugs and the innocent Povetkin did absolutely nothing wrong.

I don't hate him, I'm indifferent to him. Haven't seen him fight in many years.

He already WAS a WBA Heavyweight Champion. He protected that belt and avoided Wladimir for years. He finally fought and lost every round to Wlad, and then has proceeded to fight the best competition of his career afterward.

I would've loved it if he knocked out Wilder, but he blew it. I don't care if I ever see him fight again now since it's obvious he'll just blow any meaningful fights by testing positive for performance enhancing drugs...and considering he refuses to leave Russia he'll never be OFFERED any meaningful fights again.

Very few people hate Povetkin. You people LOVE him and defend him far more than anybody actually hates him. Most people just don't pretend he didn't fail a PED test, and according to some of you that means we hate him.

I can't forget the fight with W.K where Wlad was holding and lay on him so heavily. That ref Luis Pabon must be a relative with Weeks. LOL

NO! There are some inbred species of people that always bash him on forums, etc like he did something really bad to the boxing.

Give em some examples. I see a lot of YOU guys fawning over him and saying everybody sh*ts on him unfairly, I've seen no examples of what you're describing.

99.9% of Americans have no idea who Povetkin is.

Any hate towards him has to do with failed PED tests. Barry Bonds is hated too. Its the PEDs, man.

The WBC have just (last couple of days) admitted that his failed drug test for the Wilder fight was unfounded. I am not sure whether that was incompetence or something more sinister. The Americans on this forum (and I've nothing against Americans) are conspicuously silent about his exoneration almost like it didn't happen or means nothing. Hell he's Russian and he's a juicer, you only got to look at him.

Personally I believe you have to treat him as innocent until it's proved otherwise that's how a justice system works in a democracy, right?

I'm more selfish than principled if truth be told, and I like him because he is one of the best heavyweights in the world and I want to see him fight the other members of that elite few while there is still time.

I can't think of any fight that ever got cancelled that I remain so sore about. Classic match-up - I have no clear idea which of them prevails. We don't have such an abundance of world-class heavyweights that we can afford to ignore any of them.

Povetkin is the thorn in Wilder's side, so if they like Wilder, they hate Povetkin. Kind of like how Ward is Kovalev's boogeyman, so if they like Kovalev, they hate Ward. Kind of like how Pacquiao was Mayweather's boogeyman up until they fought, so if they like Mayweather, they hate Pacquiao.

A lot of boxing fans are fanatics for specific fighters, and they hate whoever poses a threat to that fighter's record, reputation, status, etc.. Although Wilder is slowly losing his following of fanatics, they aren't all gone yet.

Haymon Wilder USADA and Dibella smeared Povetkin just like Hay mon and Floyd orchestrated the smear campaign against Pacquiao. That is their no 1 option when faced with an opponent they are terrified of - accuse the fighter of using PEDS or manipulate the testing authority to falsely accuse the fighter with a fake positive test with supposed trace amounts. The pattern is obvious by now.

I agree with what you say about Ward/Kovalev, and there are other examples, but Povetikin is about as far away from being a thorn in Wilder's side as you can get.

The Floyd vs Pac fan hate is the worst for that. A lot of those guys act like the rival fighter has done something absolutely terrible to wrong them.

Probably has more to do with the handful of conspiracy theorists posting nonstop about the PED tests. While there could be some truth to it, it simply becomes old reading the same crap over and over.

I searched online for conspiracy involving Povetkin PED tests to no avail. I read a article on ESPN that said Povetkin was found liable for using PED's by a jury. Civil suit by Wilder and his team.
