Brian Castano

Only 13 fights, and he goes to the lion's den in France to clearly beat dangerous Michel Soro. Castano was also the only guy to beat Sergey Derevchanko (sp) in World Series of Boxing competition; Sergey was undefeated in his other 30 or so fights.

I really like what I see from this guy. Quick, tough, good combo puncher, good fitness, and could fight well in every direction. He's been on my radar for a while and I'm not surprised by this.

Another class fighter from Argentina

Looks like Oscar Bonavena's great grandson.

Damn, I have to see this fight. I didn't even know it was scheduled. I remember Castano. Dude is highly touted. I'm seeing he got a SD against Soro, though. I hope this wasn't controversial. I'll try to see where I can find the fight.

It was a clear win IMO, anywhere from 7-5 to 9-3. The card for Soro was very generous to him.

Nice amateur credentials too. :TU:

I'd like to see him stay busier though...this is only his 3rd fight in the past 18 months and he's only had 14 bouts in 5 years as a pro.

Even the French fans didn't seem to like the card for Soro, French TV had Castano winning iirc and the cards took AGES to announce, like they were trying to cook the result. After Yoka's gold in Rio and N'Dam's win in Japan I wonder if the French are sick of dodgy wins.
