Difficult to know exactly when Hamed was at his peak. I would guess around the time he beat Badillo (97') which was probably one of his best.

Harrison is maybe not at his peak yet but should improve with better opposition.

Hamed easily enough... different class.

Hamed, in one of his worst perfomances, stopped Manuel Medina in 11 rounds in the late 1990s.

Harrison, in his worst performance, got boxed silly by and older, more shopworn version of Medina.

The styles make fights argument aside, I just think that Hamed at his peak would have bombed Scott out. Scott's strong, but I don't think he'd have the power or speed to get to Hamed.

Think it might have been close.

No contest in my opinion. Scott Harrison is rugged, tough and strong, with decent power, and has a good chin, but lacks the defensive prowess to give Naz

Look at what an inexperienced Hamed did to Steve Robinson (also considered a big featherweight) way before his prime (though robinson was admittedly past his) for an indication of what he would have done with a little more difficulty to Harrison. Having said that McCulloch went the distance despite moving up a weight class, but we don't yet know how good Scott's chin is, and whether he could take the sustained pounding McCulloch took.

What would probably happen judging by this year is that the fight would be talked about for months and months and it wouldn't happen because one or both fighters wanted more money or home advantage or the choice of trunk colour, dressing room, gloves, positioning on the poster, their eyes accentuated in the publicity shots, tassles on their boots or some other reason.

SH is too straightforward for Hamed not to take him to the cleaners. Although, very different fighters, I see this fight like the Robinson fight. Hamed goes to his opponent's hometown, larges it in front of a partisan home crowd, dances around the guy for the first couple of rounds, begins unloading a bit in 3,4 and 5 and starts shipping the big stuff in 7/8 before deciding to finish it with an uppercut from an unexpected angle

SH then complains about a "virus"

Truth is, JMc is right. This fight would never happen now. Why have one cash cow when you can have two? making good fights may be good for the punters and the sport, but it isn't as lucrative for the bank balance

This could have happened. Hamed's folks would have seen Harrison as stylistically decent for Hamed, and Harrison, to give the lad his due, appears genuine when he says he wants the best fighters he can get.

It's not a knock on either fighter, it's more the fact that in todays climate, world class operators in the country are kept a country mile from one another unless there's a guzillion quid in it.

Actually, when was the last time that two British fighters collided for either a world title, or both had a title belt and they were unifying, not including WBF, WBU, IBO etc?

Infact the match would be a waste of time, much like Hamed against Billy Hardy, but would last fractionally longer.

Hamed would have destroyed Scott and made him look like a complete amateur he had way to much of everything!

Definate Hamed win, Harrison is no Barrera but I think he would have given a brave performance.
