It's his choice if he wants to retire. He probably will retire after the rematch with Horn.

Every fighter has the right to retire whenever they choose. They have the right not to retire whenever they choose as well...so long as they can keep passing the pre-fight medicals.

When you're as popular as Pacquiao it's hard to walk away before you've just completely lost every bit of cache to your name because walking away would mean leaving a sh*t load of money still on the table.

At a certain point though, it's no longer worth the risk to your health. But again...that's a decision for the fighter himself to make. Only they can decide if it's worth it to them or not to keep going.

sure. but that's the case for almost
every high profile professional athlete.
there is always that extra money that
could be made.

If a career is only about money, that's what the thinking is... That's why so many ex-boxers are messed up... They didn't want to leave money on the table or ring achievements unfulfilled... I don't think any human being is ever satisfied with what they've accomplished -- making it hard to walk away.

Then you had Hagler, Monzon, Tunney, Calzaghe, Marciano, Michael Spinks, Vitali Klitschko, Dempsey, Conteh, Froch, Burley, and many others who didn't try to squeeze the last dollar and cheer out of Boxing... A few things are important to do.. One is plan for a career beyond Boxing -- and another is not to try to pursue 2 careers at the same time -- such as senator and boxer.. You're bound to neglect one or both jobs -- or pay attention to one and ignore the other.

Right... Khan has been ducking Brook, Porter and Thruman for several years, and a rematch with Garcia.. Now Spence is added to his list of killers to avoid.

Of course it isn't like Pacman hasn't also avoided the above -- and also Crawford -- in favor of Rios, Bradley, Algieri, Vargas, Horn, and other light hitters.

Amir Khan has never done anything remotely approaching the credibility that his fistic credentials are sorely lacking. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are being sarcastic. The lone impressive win on Khan's lackluster resume' is his decision over Marcos Maidana and that was over 6 years ago!

Whatever happens he is one of the greatest fighters I have seen in my lifetime and will without doubt go down in history.

I'm torn as to what I want him to do I can't work out wether i'd love to see him have one last go at it or wether i'd like to see him call it a day.

Nothing but respect for Pacquaio, but I'd like to see him stop now and let the new crop of fighters do the top level fighting now

The man will go down as one of the best boxers of his generation, a future hall of famer and will be in debates for years to come when people consider the all time pound for pound rankings.

After this rematch or whatever happens with the fall out from the fight with Horn, he can do as he pleases and hold his head high, weather that's to fight again and finish his career on a high or walk off into the proverbial sunset and leave behind a legacy few boxers will ever even hope to achieve.
