The first fight seemed like it happened a year ago, and I was about to ask why Bellew hadn't fought since! Then I looked and realised the fight was in March!

I would really like to see a rematch. I think it's the best option for both guys.

They should fight other opponents.

He was starting to catch Bellew more and more before the injury so his timing clearly isn't all gone.

Don't see the fight happening. Bellew is making it clear that the rematch will be on his terms and I will be surprised if he Haye does accept the terms.

I think it will happen, and yes Haye is gone. If you watch his Dave TV blow outs he's doing that weird leg drag lumber then as well so presumably it has been an issue since his comeback.

Haye at his best would have made light work of Bellew.

I dont think Bellew or Coldwell would disagree with that (in private anyway).

As we have seen time and time again, a reflex-based fast puncher like Haye was never going to age well.

He seemed overly muscled and far less nimble than in previous years. His timing and swinging for fresh air reminded me of Ricky Hatton's finale against Senchenko.

That all said and out the way, his questionable heart was nowhere to be seen. He kept going and going, taking punches and limping around. That side of Haye did impress me.

It's a shame that hunger and appetite to win has only just now really kicked in, whilst his other assets have begun to fade out.

I have enjoyed Haye's career, it's just a shame he's not fought nearly as often as he should have done.

Honestly it would just be another huge payday for both men, and with the WBA (regular) world title fight that Briggs was going to be in now having fallen through, Haye could put himself and Bellew to fight for the vacant belt just to add a little world title appeal.

Honestly I don't think Bellew could handle the real top heavyweights in the world right now, comparing him with Wilder-Parker-Joshua just seems to be a class apart at that weight. He should go back to cruiser/light-heavy if he want's to stay at the world level for longer but if he want's to finish with a big fight Haye is the way to go.

David Haye on the other hand, he is a natural heavyweight now. He is easily at or above the class of your regular European/Commonwealth/British challengers but against the men holding the titles, he would struggle or find himself overpowered. The WBA regular title is his best option of a world title, unless Joshua vacates the IBF belt and he managed to work himself into the mix there somehow.

Not sure I agree with that. Haye showed hunger and an appetite to win plenty of times during his career, getting up from heavy knockdowns to win against Mormeck and Mock. Yeah he complained about his toe and didn't go for it against Wlad but that doesn't erase everything else. He didn't quit when exhausted against Thompson either

But yeah, he is done

Fair points Lenny and you are right.

I think I was trying to say (badly obviously) is that I think he could have fought a lot more than he did. But there was always some withdrawal or injury going on.

Perhaps some was Setanta going bust, some was legit (cut, shoulder) etc - but I have the overall feeling that he could have squeezed in a few more fights than he has to date.

At his prime he was a good fighter, a bit of a sh*t-talker and guilty of over-selling the Wlad fight, but I still enjoyed his fights nonetheless.

I wonder if Bellews treatment of Hearn after the Haye fight will have an impact on his future? Or will Hearn worry about the pound notes before his pride?

He broke his hand too.

Haye may be shot and a shadow of his former self, but he is still easily good enough to beat Bellew if he has the use of both legs. He may want to just make that point before retiring.

I agree, he's been a pro for 15 years and only had 31 fights, averaging just 2 fights a year. In one way that's good because he hasn't been in many wars and has a lot of quick wins so he isn't worn out. His problem has always been injuries, even as an amateur, and unfortunately age and injuries do not mix well. I like Haye but I doubt he can train as hard as he used to anymore for fear of injuring himself. He needs a few rounds as he is rusty, knocking over people in 1 or 2 rounds isn't going to help him much. I would like him to fight Bellew but I wouldn't be surprised if his body let him down again.

It seems that talks are underway for part 2
I didn't want to see part 1, and I stopped watching after Haye became one legged.
But now I do want part 2.
Why?
Because Bomber was blow harding about how he beat Haye, even though he had one leg it dosent matter to Tony, he still is the legend his mind tells him he is.
Secondly, I thought that Haye was starting to get the measure of Tony by the 4th round and could have turned it around, so I think he deserves a second chance, if only to prove me right
I can't see either if these guys getting a better fight than this. It needs to happen. I want a winner ( or for Bellew to shut up about it)

I think they should fight again, though I get people don't want to see it. But...

- first fight was inconclusive due to injury

- Bellew numerous times pre fight said he'd beat him and give him the rematch

- Haye I believe also wants it

3 simple reasons to get it done

The doubts are

- can haye turn up injury free

- does Bellew actually want it? He's linking his name with every other guy he can other than Haye

- further to the above point, Bellew complained about Hayes diva demands, and seems to be going the hypocritical route of doing that back

Despite haye being way past his best, injury free I still think he'd handle Bellew very comfortably. He was well on top pre injury. Bellew on the other hand really struggled to put away an incapacitated opponent, and looked like he didn't carry the weight well at all. Poor fitness.

Finally there's a couple of posts re Hayes heart. It's a myth he has no heart, study his career, he's a fighter for sure

I have never wanted a rematch so much and for haye to knock out bellew..

It does not sit right that bellew thinks he's a superstar..

He has had a great career but I honestly think he will avoid haye as he knows he win the lotto

From what I understand Bellew has said he will except the rematch as long as its the same terms as the first fight but reversed, which is fair enough he is deffo the A side now, I dont think Haye is agreeable to this.

Fact is Bellew has other options he's in a great position he may as well do what ever he wants to.
