I've now heard a couple guys talking about the format of the tournament or preserving themselves.

CEJ said he took the foot off the gas against AA,
GG has spoken about fighting Cox with one eye on the later rounds.

Is the busy schedule likely to turn a few fighter more cautious with their mind on making it through all 3 fights?

I hope we don't get a bunch of boring 1st round fights with everyone worried about injuries

We've already seen it make the end of the Eubank fight boring. Although Eubank has excuses for everything so he probably would have done the same thing anyway.

So fighters normally don't care about getting injured?

I don't see it changing much at all.

Given the level of each fighter, especially at cruiser, it will make each winner more tuned up each fight until the finals where both guys are match ready and on top of their game.
Only the first round of fights will have a FEW lower level guys and from then on it is tough fights all the way to the final.
No tune ups, just full on hard fights for a career high payday and belts and the trophy .
Can't get better than that.

this is a great concept full of top 50/50 fights and i can not wait for this tournament. Every fighter is coming to win. The cruiser tournment is an A+ and the super mid is a B+. If i was being critical i wish they did 2 fights per event. So the 1st round is wrapped up over 4 events (2 quarter finals per event), semi over 2 and both divisions final is on one event with losers/alternatives on the undercard.
On a side note shame on Hearn for not getting this. He is doing a disservice to sky sports subscriptions viewers. Instead he would rather put on his shockingly bad next gen shows and cards like his last one at the 02 instead of world class boxing. The reason why is it all comes down to economics in terms of lining his pockets. Savior for boxing my arse.

Hearn is a stingy bastard. He doesn't like to put a hand in his pocket. That is why he is loosing all the purse bids he suppose to win. But he better watch out. Sky monopoly isnt there anymore, others are on Matchrooms heels and if he doesnt change his cheapskate busyness model Edward Hearns empire will fall.

Why would Hearn want Sky (his pay masters) to shell out for a high profile contest promoted primarily by other promoters??

Yes he has a couple fighters in there, but it isn't his concept, his show or his promotion really. He'll have a hand in it I would imagine but not overall control.

I think if they could just pick up the SMW contest with UK fighter that he is linked to, he'd be more keen.

But the real contest is at CW and he has no real connection to this, why would he want these shows filling air time that he can use to give us his crap ,shows

The cruiserweight one is going to be class. Kudrysahov v Dorticos is going to be one of the best fights of the year.

I don't imagine the fighters promoters will be doing much of anything past collecting their piece of the pie.

Think there will be some good contests. Only gripe is that in the SMW tournament arguably the two best at the weight aren't even in it.

Eddie and Sky are exclusive partners, like one hand washing the other. Its in their common interest to show a premier boxing event on their channel, especially the one that involves their premier boxers like Callum Smith or Groves or even Eubank. Those fights will be in the UK in association with local promoters. Eddie could put his guys on the undercards and help develop their profiles. Otherwise they are helping rival networks and promoters.

Otherwise they will be loosing leading position on a UK market and wont be able to attract the best boxing talent in the country.
