The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championship Committee ordered the match between WBA "regular" light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly and the WBA interim-light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol - to establish a mandatory challenger to WBA "super" champion Andre Ward.
Cleverly has been back in the light heavyweight ranks as a player since October 2016, when he defeated German boxer Juergen Braehmer in six rounds to capture the "reagular" belt. His record is 30 wins, 3 losses and 16 knockouts.
According to rule 11, a champion has 120 days to perform a mandatory match and this term has already expired for the Welsh boxer.
Both were duly notified and are aware that they have 30 days, beginning on July 27, 2017, to reach an agreement or the confrontation will be called to a purse bid.
