I liked maidana because he put on consistent action packed fights. His primary offense was punches, punches in bunches whereas wards primary offense is grappling.

Maidana was a crude swinger -- not just a dirty fighter... But he only threw a couple low blows at Floyd and Floyd grappled all night -- and used the elbow... They were both dirty... Floyd bitched like Hell about Weeks's effort and so did Floyd fans... But Floyd wasn't robbed blind.

Ward went low knowing Weeks was with him 100%... They're both corrupt as Hell... Fighter and referee.

I also watched Floyd's fights vs Castillo... De La Hoya... Maidana... and Pacquiao... Floyd won them all on my card... Some people see what they want to see.

For me, Cotto fought Mayweather the best of anybody.. He popped Floyd right in the face with a lot of sweet jabs -- right on the nose with perfect timing.. A complete novice like McGregor needs a guy like Cotto who understands the mechanics and timing of the jab... Mikey Garcia, Loma, Crawford, GGG, Kovalev, Usyk, AJ...all can jab nice... AJ's isn't 100% smooth yet, but he threw some beautiful jabs versus Martin and Breazeale.

It's a really good point you make here but I think that it all comes down to the fact that some boxers are inexplicably unlikable for reasons unknown. There's something about Ward that people just do not like and I can't figure it out or put my finger on it as I am one of them that dislikes him for no good reason. I've won't miss any of his fights. Regardless of whom he fights, i'm always rooting against him. No idea why.

Everyone knew Maidana was dirty and had to be dirty to compete with Floyd because he needed to make up for the lack of skills in that fight. But you're absolutely right...every illegal tactic he used in the first fight had me jumping out of my chair with joy.

My take, boxers who fight aggressively and in an attacking manner get more of a pass from criticism, as they're providing action and entertainment. Negative fighters dont always get that luxury from the boxing world. In fact make that sporting world.

Floyd and ward are pretty negative non action guys to watch. Incredibly skilled and clinical, but not entertaining

I personally don't care how a guy fights... But if he doesn't get hit I like to watch him.

Gene Tunney actually fought a more interesting fight with Tommy Gibbons than Jack Dempsey did. His weapons were sharp enough to reach Gibbons and get him out.. Many more people paid to see Dempsey-Tunney than paid for any other fight up to that time -- and it wasn't because they were going to see a slugfest.. They knew from the get-go that Tunney was going to jab and move -- and evade about everything Dempsey threw.. They were hoping GT got nailed.. It rained all over the boxers and the crowd in the first fight.. And nothing whatever happened in that fight.. That didn't stop a sellout of the rematch, both 10-rounders and the biggest sellouts making the most money up until 1971.

People have enormous misconceptions about why people pay to see a boxing match... It isn't to see anybody who doesn't have any skills.

Because Europeans despise American success in sports Americans barely even care about. That's why.

Not sure if this was a response to me or not, but if it was... attacking boxers in my post doesn't mean poorly skilled sluggers... ray Leonard, Roy, Tommy, Duran, Tyson etc are all what I'd consider skilled, attacking fighters.

In the case of Roy, ray Leonard and Ali, there's quality defence too, not be hit. But they did it differently to the Mayweathers and wards of boxing, as there fighting style wasn't as negative

I don't know what you mean by "negative"... I don't see negative fighters simply because they're being smarter and defend themselves better... Tommy Hearns fought in something the fans loved vs Hagler -- but the fool got the living sh!t cleaned out of him.. Floyd wouldn't fight like that..
