We know Jim Neilly is the worst commentator in history and a complete joke. So it comes as no surprise to see him being made fun of on Soccer saturday a few moments ago. jeff Stelling was talking about the Khan fight and he said the Neilly said that some fighter was one of the "less well known kazakstani boxers" (Cue laughter by the whole panel)... "And we're still waiting for the well know boxers too".
hilarious. neilly really is a prat.

Anyone else heard Holdsworth and Colin Hart on Eurosports commentary, its painful to listen too. All they do is concentrate on negatives and moan for the entire time they are on air, they hardly even watch the fights. They just moan and moan and moan the entire time. Fucks sake, cheer up.

he may be the finest guy in the world, helping old women cross the road, doing a lot of work for charity maybe even finding a cure for world hunger. He may be feted by the richest and most influential people in the world. The pope could have him next on the list to be sanctified.
But as a commentator he's piss poor

Hart joined Steve for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All they did was moan on the air the entire time. Also Eurosport never showed Khan's semifinal or Final which I thought was ridiculus, on British Eurosport. They opted to show Kindelans walk over fight in the semi instead of Khans far more exciting fight and then didn't even show him in the final.

I can understand why Holdsworth moans, having to commentate on rounds and rounds of pathetic ESPN 'Heavyweight mutton dressed up as world-title prospect Lamb' aka 'Heavyweights with titties' promotions.
Poor bloke isn't even watching the show live, he's just stuck in a booth commentating on slapathons between fat Louisana journeyman dreadnoughts or he's reporting on a show from the deepest depths of the Benelux region, featuring the main event between the latest Belgian light-welter sensation who's on his way to being the 'Ricky Hatton of Belgium', even though he's boxing in front of 150 Belgian peasants who haven't got a clue what they're watching.
Or he's having to try and jazz up the undercard of a Universum show in Germany in front of a crowd of 12,000 supporters who seem to have their hands tied behind their backs during the rounds, who're falling into comas watching an eight-rounder between two guys, in the red corner will be Klaus, who can't punch, and in the blue corner will be Petr, can't box. Cue the Come Dancing theme!
If that little lot doesn't give you an idea why he sounds miserable, you can always do what Steve so politely asks at the end or during most of his transmissions and "email me at
[email protected] and ask just why I'm so pissed off with the endless amount of shite I'm meant to make sound like Hagler v Hearns!!!"

fair comment, I must admit while I dont like Steve's style of commentating bit OTT for me, he does a write a good article, the stuff i have read by him is very knowledgable and well written. Soi its a matter of tasrte and he does know his stuff, however well he hides it on Eurosport.
Also he does seem like a decent bloke, everyone who has met him says how much time he has for fans of the game and always takes time to have a chat and be pleasant.
Respect.
Ivbe never been a huge fan of eurosport boxing to be honest. Apart form the odd bout ..........
"its boxing Jim but not as we know it"

Great post Dirt Sugar

However Eurosport does provide us with new heroes, without Eurosport i would never have watched the rise to glory of the new Sven Ottke (he gets gift decisions too) Kai Kurzawa a German Light Heavyweight hope and we would have missed Virgil Kalakoda defending his WBE belt against worthwhile Panamanian and East Timorian foes...a real joy to watch :P
