Why is it in Skipton? I can't see Cook living there.

Very sad when fighters have to sell off their belts.

Someone else owns them maybe?

£2500 sounds a lot. You'd have thought the sentimental value is all they've got.

Has anyone ever sold a Londsdale belt?
You would have to be on hard times to sell that beauty. Especially since you have to defend it to own it.

Quite a few have come up over the years. I think possibly Bobby Vanzie's was on ebay a few years ago, but I could be wrong.

I posted Nicky Cooks belts for sale on here a while ago. Location and the eBay name 'Lee Cutler' do seem strange as the seller says "I won this belt against...'

There have been a few boxers forced to sell the Lonsdale belt including Bobby Vanzie, Henry Cooper and Ken Buchanan.

Bobbie Vanzie sold his for religious rather than financial reasons, pretty sure he only got about 4k

Kirkland Laing's was on ebay last week, it didn't sell though, starting bid was £16k.

And now does BKB! Not sure what happened to his religion.

I take it that Buchanan's belt is the one on the wall in a bar on Rose Street in Edinburgh.

I always think the EBU belt may stand for something pretty good but the belt itself is utter crap. A metal buckle on a basic strip of leather. I could get that made down the local shoe shop

Is this true? Great touch by Ricky if so but cant find any links to story to corroborate. Hatton was in his corner of course the night he blitzed Alex Arthur to win the Lonsdale Belt. Best British fight I ever did see.

The Internet makes these kind of things very easy.

Quite creepy, too, how much info is out there.

Incidentally, I think the much lauded Lonsdale belt looks pretty bad. Like an old pant belt or some worn down bauble I'd find in my grandparents basement...

Thanks for clearing that up. I'd always wondered and when I read about Buchanan having sold his I just made the assumption.
