"The triple world champion won his second Olympic gold medal, beating the young pretender to his crown, Amir KHAN (GBR), in an enthralling final.
After the bout KINDELAN all but anointed the 17-year-old KHAN as the next world and Olympic champion. "He told me I should stay amateur, and I would be the next Olympic and world champion," said KHAN.
British team coach Terry EDWARDS put KHAN’s silver medal performance in perspective, adding: "This is Amir’s 14th senior contest."
"Today he has been in the ring with a boxing legend. KINDELAN MESA is pound for pound the best amateur boxer in the world."
