McG-Paulie footage released...legit KD?

Paulie claimed a push, and IMO McG's left glove/arm was clearly on top of Paulie's head right before he went down. Im guessing that was late in the session, as they both looked very ragged.

Sort of looks like mcgregor was pushing on his head and he went over his right leg doesn't look a legit knockdown to me the second clip Pauline looks ragged and knackered but hasn't been in shape for a while

I wouldn't read too much into any of this.

I like Pauli but that's a knockdown. It's not the heaviest knockdown and balance did play a factor but it's still a knockdown.

Paulie said that he was called to spar, so he went to the gym, and then they said it was cancelled. He wanted to stay and train in the gym, but they said no because Conor was going to be training. They did not want the sparring partners to see Conor training. That's when Paulie decided to leave the camp. Based on the bruises on his face and he initially said Conor did well in sparring before the photos were released, I would assume that Paulie did not really kick Conor's a$$ in sparring. Paulie also was not in tip top shape after being retired, so that also was a factor in his sparring.

Looks like a slip to me, but it is potato quality.
Edit: Looking at some better quality footage you can clearly see McGregor pushing his hand down on Paulie's head while he's leaning forward and the ref waving it as not a knockdown.

A cherrypicked clip of him hitting and holding, wow much impressive.
Loads of really pointless weightless arm punches too.

Credit where credits due, he hit Paulie with a very nice straight left and was able to follow up. Also the knockdown...well...from those angles, If I was asked to judge..from those angles..without slow mo..I would call it a knockdown. Doesn't change anything though, what did PM land on and do to him in there. Show me the full thing.

They had 20 rounds to work with, here's what I can get out of just over 3m of much more friendly sparring (where Shane even admitted he got battered)

Conor's got a decent straight left but does he have anything else at all?

Might've been scored a KD but certainly not a telling one. He may have been pushed. He landed a nice left, but Paulie is trying to imitate Floyd(like a good sparring partner). A carefully selected few second long clip tells us nothing, you don't need to be class to land one good straight punch in a sparring session where the other guy isn't using his own style.

It's a waste of time analysing sparring in such detail

I aggree. Also in my estimation it doesnt make much sense to take a out of shape paulie as a sparring partner when you go inside the ring against a top 10 atg. Floyd is at the end if his career but he still is a in shape elite boxer. Conor should sparr top guys like 154 charlo or andrade. Because the man he is facing even out of prime is on the level if not above charlo & andrade!

I was actually impressed with what the video clip shows of McGregor. He lands his left hand flush on Malignaggi was extremely slippery in his prime. Mcgregor looks strong and fast and very good timing...
However
Paulie is pretty much a shot fighter and looks in terrible shape here, I'd be interested to know how much time he spent in the gym prior to the spar.
Also Malignaggi isn't Mayweather, even a prime Malignaggi wouldn't have beat Mayweather once even if they boxed 20 times.
This 'knockdown' doesn't look like a proper legitimate knockdown to me. More like a 'bundled him over'/slip.
At least I have more interest in the fight now.

Played at normal speed, most referees would be forgiven for technically regarding that as a legit knockdown, though the slow motion replay suggests otherwise.
I would have liked to have seen the events leading up to Malignaggi hitting the deck in order to decide whether Paulie being off-balance was due to Conor's unorthodox fighting style or whether it was due to McGregor's reputed powerful left hand.
If it's the former, whereby the Irishman is using his physical strength to push, pull and rough-up Malignaggi, then this will reinforce my belief that the McGregor-Mayweather bout is a mismatch, with Conor simply publishing carefully-selected media as propaganda to help sell his bout against Floyd.
If it's the latter, this will allow all sports combat fans to review Conor's fighting style in order to gauge his chances of defying the odds to defeat Money May.
My guess is that this so-called Showtime-manufactured "controversy" is nothing but a load of fûckîng bôllôcks, with McGregor being a pretty crap fighter in comparison to the men that Floyd usually spars against.

Typical Conor pulling this crap. Ander Berto was supposed to spar with McGregor as well. But after seeing how Conor post pics out of context, he refused. I dont vlame anyone for not wanting to help this guy. Not like its going to help him come fight time. If he couldnt get an out of shap Paujlie out of there in 20 rounds, how the hell does he expect to beat Floyd?
What Conor is doing with these pics and clips of him looking good is taking a page straight from the undefeated great, Charlie Z's book of excellence. Lol

Joe Cortez is visible in the left of the shot signalling no knock down. Good enough for me.

Yeah, even if all the footage from them is legit and an accurate representation it doesn't count for much. There's a big difference between fat Malignaggi and Mayweather. If he cared about winning rather than just promotion he would have used Malignaggi for what he'd have been best at, improving his boxing style, and learning some tricks, to give himself the best chance.
