Don't wanna' ramble on too much but what did you lads think of the footage + the knockdown?

Asked few friends at my local gym today and seemed pretty split, few people noted that the stances + tangling of feet might have played a part

Not really. Was nothing to do with power anyway. Just watched it this is gonna be a painful night for connor. People go on about mayweather not having power. But he hits plenty hard enough. And hes deadly accurate with it as well. Connor looks a pity pat puncher in comparison.

I don't think so, he put his hand on the back of Paulie's head and pushed down. And you can see the ref wave it as no a knockdown who could see it much more clearly.

Im still undecided, a punch did land but McGregor also definitely pushed Malignaggi to help him down, balance played a part as well, Paulie claims the feet were tangled which is obviously common with a righty/lefty but you cant tell, Malignaggi never mentioned nothing about the feet tangling before the footage was released and he does seem to be protesting a bit too much, its like he's replying to every single tweet on the matter

Lolz at Dana White tweeting a 5 second clip of McGregor landing 1 or 2 shots thus proving he can box

Not for me, it was a mixture of a push on the back of the head and tangling of feet. Away from the knockdown I think there should be more of a point about the lack of technique in Mcgregors punches. This fight will be very embarrassing for him

When i first watched the clip on youtube i thought there was nothing to it, but watching the clip in The Sun, it does appear he tagged him and Mallignagi's head does appear to jerk a bit. It probably was a KD, but it was of the scuffing, messy variety. Certainly wasn't a clean shot landed and over you go. Would it have been called in a fight? I think its 50/50

More impressive to me was the straight left hand he landed in the other sequence, that was a powerful and damaging shot.

But obviously a couple tiny clips released prove next to nothing really. Everything in context. Lets see the full sparring session and then we can properly judge. Bit of a snakey move by White this because its obviously footage to give the perception that Paulie took a whooping. And that may or may not be the case, but that footage doesn't prove jacksh*t on its own.

Sure the MMA junkies will be lapping this up though...lol

Not only he got dropped but also clearly bashed up. If this was during a fight there is no doubt it would be called a knock down. It doesnt have to be a single rocking shot to call it KD.

All credit to Paulie here. The build up to the biggest grossing fight ever has been all about Paulie Malignaggi. He's been in the media more than Conor and Floyd combined and this footage will ensure it's more of the same next week.

Malignaggi v McGregor is a money fight now- even if Conor gets beaten as badly as most of us expect him to.

Why doesnt mcgregor release the whole spar nit just a little clip,according to paulie he gave mcgregor a boxing lesson,if i had evidence of beating someone up in sparring and they say they beat me up id release it to prove them wrong not release a little clip

Looked like a combo of push and punch, so not a legit knockdown for me.

Malignaggi clearly not near fighting shape either. No muscle definition at all.

I read Muhammad Ali used to look bad in sparring as he used to concentrate on defence a lot. So his sparring partners were loading up and not a lot coming back from the greatest! But when the opening bell rang, the greatest was the greatest!

Big audley Harrison used very modest skillset sparring partners due to what I believe was a lack of confidence. Sparring for him was a confidence builder by being able to dominate opponents.

Then you have every man and his dog has apparently done Joshua in sparring.

This is why I don't read into it. It's all on fight night

I'll watch this fight but won't do the PPV. Going against my boxing roots by pulling for the mma guy. Love mcgregor

If we were to go by sparring stories..... I would be a 3 weight world champion.

It was sparring so it doesn't even matter.

What you do in sparring doesn't go down in the record books.

Mcgregor asked him to help out with the does and do nots of the rules in pro boxing and joe cortez abliged

Don't know what's confusing about the rules of Boxing that you'd need to hire somebody to explain 'em to you to begin with. I figured this sh*t out pretty quickly.

That's interesting about Audley - I always thought he looked like a guy who didn't spar enough.
