He has known hand issues. How can it give him an advantage? They are just trying to sell more PPVs.marvelous marv wrote:Floyd would only agree to this if he felt it gave him some sort of advantage.
Floyd nearly always competes using 8oz gloves. There's only been a few bouts (above the 147lbs limit) where he's used 10oz gloves.boxing_rocks wrote:He has known hand issues. Exactly this.SenorPipino wrote:Isn't this just smoke for promotional purposes.
No matter what the size, weren't boxing gloves designed to protect the hands, not cushion blows to the head????
He seems to do alright when after he takes extended breaks from boxing. It will be an advantage because to McGregor, Floyd will feel like a puncher.boxing_rocks wrote:He has known hand issues. He might be able to win if Floyd breaks both of his hands. That's probably the play.Impractical Poster wrote:This is going to turn around and bite Conor in the ass. Once he starts getting tagged unmercifully he may regret the size change.
No he won't, McGregor gets hit harder all the time. What he will feel like is one of the best boxers in history smashing him with punches he can't see or avoid.IKSRTFO wrote:He seems to do alright when after he takes extended breaks from boxing. I haven't seen him being set up for punches he don't see nor been hit non stop with combinations which feel worse than single telegraphing punches a boxer can see a mile away.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:No he won't, McGregor gets hit harder all the time. McGregor doesn't get hit by boxers. Boxers are generally better punchers than MMA fighters. Boxers practice the same punches over and over. Accurate shots hurt way more than telegraphed sloppy haymakers.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:IKSRTFO wrote:I haven't seen him being set up for punches he don't see nor been hit non stop with combinations which feel worse than single telegraphing punches a boxer can see a mile away.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:

You almost agreed but you couldn't make it all the way. Dude gets kicked in the face with shins and elbowed in the jaw. As far as your telegraphed punches, that's bullshit too. Nothing anywhere near Floyd's caliber Boxing, but when you're looking for a take down or a low kick what you call ugly can be a clever surprise.
Like I said, he'll be blinded by talent. Not suddenly overwhelmed by your agenda of Floyd on roids superpower.

McGregor does get hit by Boxers. During his amateur career and during his sparring. They're not Mayweather, but they're boxers. I guess now is when you'll tell me they're not Mayweather. Yeah, Chris Byrd would sting someone a lot more than George Foreman. Like I said, he won't see them coming. They absolutely hurt you in the sporting sense, but you wouldn't all of a sudden feel like Byrd was powerful. More like WTF was that.
I think Floyd is too.tiny_acres wrote:Completely shocked that nsac agreed to this
